Learn about unconventional design solutions in Eataly's interior design – the new gastronomic center of the capital and the most discussed place this month

Recently, a gastronomic center of the well-known Italian network Eataly opened in Moscow. We had been waiting for its appearance in Moscow for three years, and it was worth the wait: this is the second largest Eataly complex in the world. The gastronomy store occupies the entire fourth floor of TK "Kievsky", and here you can not only buy products but also have a quick bite or participate in a master class.

The interior design and technical equipment of the space were handled by the Moscow construction company CERA GROUP. The concept of the restaurant center was created by the architectural division of Eataly's team led by Carlo Piglione and Alberto Paruzzo. We decided to see what the market looks like and what interesting design solutions are there.

Each zone of Eataly has its unique interior. For example, in the beer restaurant La Birra, designers focused on elements of brutalism. The bar counter is made of reinforced concrete and decorated with metal mesh. Tables are made from solid metal bases and natural wood countertops. Red chairs create a bold accent.

The communications in La Birra are open and extended to the ceiling. Wooden beams do not fully conceal them, but thanks to texture and color, they make the space cozier and more comfortable.

In general, in the bar interior, many different textures contrast with each other: look at how effective the combination of rough brick and glazed ceramic tiles can be.

Another feature of the interior is a 5-centimeter wood countertop made from solid wood. The live untrimmed edge, with bark removed.

Brewing equipment is integrated into the interior and is an inseparable part of it.

In the wine restaurant Pane e Vino, designers also tried to create an authentic and relaxed atmosphere. Tables are made from wine barrels and simple metal and glass constructions. There are bar counters with natural greenery. Wooden casks can be seen behind the bar counter.

In Lavazza, panoramic glazing is used – you can drink coffee and enjoy the city view. The walls are decorated with mosaic. Pay attention to the lighting fixtures: they are made from different metals – a fashionable modern solution.

And this is part of the restaurant Venchi. Chocolate flows from brass pipes. The beauty of metal is highlighted by reflections. Here, Italians boldly combine metals of different colors again.

Let's take a look at the master class area. The interior here is strict and professional: in a gray palette with red accents.

The highlight of the design in the bakery Panetteria is white-blue huts. These exist in every Eataly department around the world. They are used to make paninis.

The entrance to the restaurant Quattro Venti is decorated with old brick. When arranged in a specific way, it, according to Eataly designers, combines the incompatible: the brutal hardness of brick and the lightness of lace-like structures.

The ceiling features clouds made of woven white wire. They give the interior a childlike dreamy atmosphere.

And the decorative counter is made of natural cylindrical timber that has been severely eaten by woodworm. The beams protrude from a thick polished stainless steel sheet that imitates water surface.

The pizza ovens in Ristorante della Pizza – the most eye-catching element in Moscow Eataly. They look like golden drops dripping from the ceiling. The finish is made of glass mosaic covered with lustrous gold.

The Mediterranean restaurant Pesce is executed in cool tones contrasting with the warm floor. The bar counter is decorated with Mediterranean tiles. Transparent chairs do not interfere with their perception.

Eataly is a very open project. Many technological processes are exposed or shown to visitors through glass. For example, Stagionatura is a cheese aging chamber. There is nothing extra here, and the main element of the interior is the product itself.

And of course, in every Eataly department, in every country, there is a living olive tree – an ancient symbol of health and fertility.
