La Tête d'Or Restaurant by Rockwell Group in One Madison
A New Culinary Icon in Flatiron
Created by the renowned studio Rockwell Group, La Tête d'Or is the latest signature restaurant of Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud. Located at the base of the elegant One Madison tower at 318 Park Avenue South, the restaurant offers an exquisite blend of New York sophistication and French culinary tradition. The design is inspired by classic linen bars and reimagined with modern elegance.
Architecture and Design by Rockwell Group
The two-story glass facade attracts guests with warm light, welcoming them into a space where theatricality and intimacy are masterfully combined. The interior design by Rockwell Group pays homage to both the Art Deco architecture of New York and the romantic legacy of French luxury. Rich materials—mirrored surfaces, dark marble, wood, and leather panels—are combined with a palette of deep blues and vibrant reds.
The entrance lobby is clad in Italian black and graphite stone flooring, illuminated by individual amber fixtures. This immersive transition from the bustling Park Avenue to a sensual dining space sets the tone for everything that follows.
Separate Dining Areas and Luxurious Details
Upon entering, guests are greeted by a curved red lobby with warm LED lighting and unique furniture. A corridor clad in Port Lawrence marble leads to a luxurious bar with a mirrored column adorned with bronze accents. The bar features a quartz counter in bronze tones, copper tile accents, and blue leather chairs surrounded by velvet armchairs for cozy relaxation.
Entering the main dining room, guests are greeted by high ceilings, walnut wood floors, and silk upholstered walls. A geometric artistic exhaust hood above the open kitchen—manufactured by Italian company De Castelli from five different metals—captures attention and reflects the energy of the wood-fired grill.
Private Areas and Events
Two semi-private spaces to the north of the main dining room offer an exclusive experience: The Royal Table, focused on open kitchen and grill, and La Vague, featuring a U-shaped stone table designed for on-site cooking. For large private events, the restaurant also offers a separate room accessible through a pre-lobby with original murals and abstract floral wallpapers from Glamora.
Culinary Theater of Daniel Boulud
Named after the famous Lyon park, La Tête d'Or pays homage to Chef Boulud’s roots, offering a unique experience in New York. The menu reflects Franco-American cuisine with refined beef, wholesome Sole, Caesar salad at the table, and classic sauces that highlight Boulud’s precise culinary philosophy. Emphasis on service at the table and open food preparation adds a theatrical element that enhances the atmosphere.
The Rooftop: Le Jardin sur Madison
In addition to the main dining room, Rockwell Group also designed a pink rooftop lounge on the 28th floor, Le Jardin sur Madison. This exclusive event space with a street terrace continues the restaurant's refined color palette and is fully integrated into Boulud’s hospitality program—offering another level of luxury above One Madison.
Experience at La Tête d'Or
More than just a restaurant, La Tête d'Or is an immersive experience crafted through world-class collaboration in design and cuisine. It sets a new standard for elite dining in Manhattan, joining other designer hotel properties previously featured on our site such as Terrazza Aperol in Milan and Dorset Beach House in the UK.
With its dramatic design, intimate dining areas, and culinary workshop, La Tête d'Or is poised to become a timeless classic at the intersection of hospitality and high design in New York.
