We tell how to make a small space stylish and ergonomic

Designer Lidia Napreenko updated the interior of a standard two-bedroom apartment in a Khrushchyovka building of series II-14, built in 1959. The apartment, which was in terrible condition, was transformed into a cozy interior in Scandinavian style. The kitchen with an area of 7 sq m was left isolated, yet all necessary items were placed inside.

In her free time, the client enjoys baking pastries, so it was necessary to plan many storage systems and a working countertop on this small kitchen. The kitchen cabinet was placed at an angle, the refrigerator is standalone, and the oven and microwave are built into a cabinet-column. A gas cooktop with two burners is enough. The only drawback was placing the sink in a corner, but since there is a dishwasher here, no difficulties arise.

The splashback is made of ceramic granite. It was laid on the countertop made of MDF, and the seam was sealed with silicone. The cabinet fronts come in several colors: the bottom row is chocolate-colored, the middle one is white, and the tallest cabinet units are yellow, continuing the yellow edging around the perimeter of the room.

During the renovation, the heating radiators were repainted in graphite color, and the trim was done in the same shade. One distinctive feature of the wall design is the absence of a ceiling cornice.

The furniture is minimal but essential: a dining table and chairs with soft upholstery. For lighting, the cabinet was equipped with under-cabinet lights, and a lamp above the dining table with a wicker shade was installed — diffused light creates a very cozy home atmosphere.
