Vibrant Terrace with Mexican Flair
Marina Sarksyans shared ideas on how to create an unusual interior for a countryside leisure area
Designer Marina Sarksyans designed and decorated a terrace for a young family with twin daughters. This place is for cozy gatherings with family and friends. To keep the mood always uplifting and summery, they chose a Mexican theme for the interior.
Location: SNТ in Domodedovo area
Year of Implementation: 2021
Area: 29 sq. m
Budget: 220 thousand rubles
Designer: Marina Sarksyans
Photographer: Yuri Tokarev
Stylist: Ekaterina Savkina
The terrace project was prepared by architects from Marina Sarksyans' studio — Ivan and Anastasia Belomestnov. It is built from 100×150 mm lumber, with OSB panels on the roof slopes and flexible tiles on the roof. The floor is wooden planks coated with wood oil-wax. For finishing, they used decorative stone, glass blocks, and water-based acrylic paint.

The main color is light gray, accent colors are blue, yellow, and coral. Bright paints characteristic of Latin American countries were chosen. Stripes on Mexican ponchos served as inspiration for the vibrant ceiling of the terrace.

Decorative elements with painting were created by Marina Sarksyans' studio. They feature Mexican ornament.
"The main task was to incorporate a bold, original terrace into the plot, creating something unique and yet perfectly complementing the main house's appearance. 'Latin American' ceiling colors are balanced by a calm light gray floor tone. Classical garden wooden furniture is harmonized with bright hammock chairs. Traditional wooden louvers are accentuated with ultra-modern colored glass blocks,"— Marina Sarksyans explains.
