Time to Cook: Setting Up a Barbecue Area
Fire has long been considered the heart of the home, around which families always gathered to warm themselves, cook food, and spend evenings. This situation has not changed even today. Rarely does a suburban house nowadays exist without a barbecue area. There is no more pleasant corner in the garden where it's so nice to spend evenings with friends or family on a quiet open terrace, enjoying the aromatic meat and vegetables cooked over fire.

Usually, a barbecue area is planned during the landscape design stage. However, if you decide to set up this cozy corner without major reconfigurations, that's also no problem since planning a place for a grill is not complicated. It can be combined with other relaxation areas and does not always require great effort or large space.

The basis of a picnic area is a grill, and it can even be placed in a small garden corner. The ideal solution for cases with limited space is a portable grill that is installed only when needed.

If you are lucky enough to own a plot where you can create a full-scale stationary barbecue area, the first step is to determine its location. It is best to choose a spot not far from the main house. It's convenient when the hostess can wash her hands or get missing ingredients from the refrigerator.

Often, a barbecue area is also arranged far from the living house to feel close to nature and stay hidden from inquisitive neighbors. Also, not everyone likes when the smells of food enter the living rooms.

Usually, gatherings with kebabs are always accompanied by conversations and fun, so it's important to place enough chairs, sofas, or benches around the grill. By the way, benches save space very well.

Of course, fire safety is essential. Before installing a grill, inspect the area. There should not be trees, bushes, or flower beds nearby. The area under the grill is better laid with tiles, stone, or regular metal sheets. Also, the grill must be well protected from the wind.

It's great when the kebab preparation area is set up under a canopy or in a garden pavilion. In this way, bad weather won't interfere with the feast.

Grill constructions can be completely different – from elegant garden grills to monumental barbecues with a grill and even electric rotisserie. They are made of brick, natural stone, concrete, or cast iron and equipped with various shelves for kitchen utensils, a place for food prep, or even a sink with a refrigerator.

For decoration, artificial stone and ceramic granite are used. A fireplace made of natural marble with elements of forging looks impressive.

Grills made in retro style create a sense of calm and carefreeness in the barbecue area. For fans of hi-tech, there are modern grills designed in minimalism style. The main thing to remember is that the barbecue area should form a harmonious ensemble with the entire plot architecture.
