Romantic Touch in Everyday Life: Provence in a Kiev Mansard

This page is also available in the following languages:🇷🇺🇺🇦🇫🇷🇩🇪🇪🇸🇵🇱🇨🇳

A small apartment under the roof of a nine-story building in Kiev became the setting for a major renovation. The one-room flat needed to be divided into a bedroom and living room, a large laundry area built into the small kitchen, and an dining table placed. Additionally, the resulting apartment was to be decorated in the style of Provence.

As a result, in the carefully re-planned area of 38 square meters, an airy interior emerged – one where charm and playfulness blend with new utility, poetry of daily life and romance of distant travels. The project's author, Irina Manukovskaya, shared her memories of the creative process.

Client and Preferences

The client is a young and very active woman who has traveled most of the world. She works a lot, is very democratic, but also loves to pamper herself. For her, this is the first personal residence, and previously she only rented apartments in Kiev. After another long trip, she decided that she was tired of transporting belongings from place to place and needed a cozy nest and a base for relocation.

The interior owner is passionate about... life first and foremost: collecting authentic decorations and unusual souvenirs from different countries where she has been. Before moving into the apartment, she didn't cook at all, eating in restaurants and with friends. At her new place, she liked it so much that she started baking cookies, frying cheese pancakes, and hosting cozy apartment parties.

The client's wishes naturally stem from her lifestyle: she wanted to get a cozy nest where she could accommodate her extensive "dowry"NaN
