Spotlight Fixtures for Suspended Ceilings

Spotlight fixtures for suspended ceilings are widely used in apartment decoration. They come in adjustable and non-adjustable versions, suitable for halogen bulbs, incandescent bulbs, and LED lamps. They vary in protection rating against moisture and mechanical damage, indicated by the IP index.

Installing fixtures for regular bulbs requires lowering the ceiling more than with halogen bulb fixtures. Among bulbs of the same power, halogen bulbs glow brighter, and fixtures for halogen bulbs are more varied. However, if you need to replace a bulb, it's easier to change an incandescent bulb.

With LED lighting, the same situation applies in terms of luminous efficacy as with halogen: it is brighter and more durable than incandescent bulbs. Spotlight fixtures have a small coverage radius, so you may need several of them or combine them with a chandelier for full room lighting.

Spotlight fixtures can create soft, diffused lighting, highlight interior accents, and create an interesting ceiling design, including a starry sky effect.

Linear Light Fixtures

Modular light fixtures are another type of lighting widely used for suspended ceilings. They are mainly used for lighting non-residential spaces, especially offices. Despite their relatively large size, one such fixture is not enough for lighting, as the light is directed straight down.

A linear light fixture consists of a section for several fluorescent tubes, with a standard size matching the suspended ceiling grid (600 x 600 mm). There are also linear fixtures for drop-in ceilings with an elongated shape.

Linear light fixtures are also available for LED bulbs. It is hard to imagine modern stores and offices without this type of lighting.

LED Strips

LED strips are the best way to create a suspended ceiling with hidden backlighting.

LED strips differ by the number of LEDs and color of emission. They can be colorful or monochrome. A big advantage of LED lighting is its eco-friendliness.

A suspended ceiling with backlighting can be easily made by yourself, as many strips come with double-sided tape on the back, allowing attachment to any surface.

However, LED strips cannot be connected directly to a regular power supply – their operating voltage is 12 V. Therefore, a current transformer is required. Additionally, the brightness and color of LED strips can be controlled using a special controller.

Light Fixtures for Suspended Ceilings, Prices

Light fixtures for suspended ceilings can be purchased everywhere, with prices depending on type and manufacturer. A linear fixture for fluorescent bulbs costs around 1500-2000 rubles per unit, and for LED bulbs, around 2500-3000 rubles. An LED strip costs from 100 rubles per meter (the simplest single-color version), while a multi-color LED module may cost up to 2500 rubles. The cheapest spotlight fixture costs around 130 rubles.

Of course, regular ceiling light fixtures of all types are also used for lighting. Suspended ceilings often combine several types of lighting. The effect of lighting fixtures can be enhanced by the material of the suspended ceiling, such as glass mosaic or translucent ceiling panels.
