Soft Kitchen Interior of 7 sqm with Spacious Cabinet

Designer Maria Rozhkova decorated a small kitchen in a flat near the University for a mother and daughter. The concept was developed based on Scandinavian style, adding maritime notes to the color palette and decor. On 7 sq. m, it was necessary to design a full kitchen with all the required appliances and space for a table for four.

The designer suggested removing the door and the entire doorway to the kitchen and joining it with the hallway — since the kitchen has an electric stove, such an arrangement is perfectly acceptable.

All kitchen furniture was custom-made. Due to the configuration of load-bearing walls, a corner formed on the kitchen, into which cabinets were fitted — in this corner, the countertop has a depth of 900 mm. It was specifically not reduced to 600 mm so that the kitchen aligns with the wall and has fewer corners. This allowed increasing the surface area next to the faucet and using it for storing kitchen utensils.

Instead of closing off the so-called 'dead' corner near the oven, additional outlets were installed there to accommodate household appliances in the future — for example, a blender or coffee machine.

Instead of upper cabinets, shelves made from solid wood were ordered. Open storage is also a reference to Scandinavian interiors.

For the dining area, a folding round table and comfortable chairs with wooden backs were chosen. The space was completed with a decoration shelf.

The kitchen has a low windowsill, which was used to place a small seat and cushions — thus forming a cozy reading nook for quiet evenings with friends.
