How a Couple from Sweden Transformed an Old Hunting Cabin
Charming house for a happy life in the countryside
The old hunting cabin has been transformed into something much more. Here you can see a beautiful garden, a sunlit terrace and a wonderful pool. At the entrance to the house you can notice several beautiful planters with green plants on a white vintage table.
House in a pearl forest- Total area: 120 m².
- Who lives here: Maria (53 years old), Perlan (61 years old), cat Fliasan (13 years old), Niss (11 years old) and Doris (8 years old).
- Jobs: Maria is a procurement manager at Zetas Trangard, Perlan works in the security service Avarn Sakerhet.
- Location: in the municipality of Tireso near Stockholm.
Maria has dreamed of a garden all her life, and when they found this house, they fell in love with it immediately. Despite the fact that the house was old and required major renovation, they managed to bring all their dreams to life.
KitchenOn her kitchen, Maria always decorates the dining table with live flowers and a rough linen tablecloth. You can see ceiling lights, glass vases, terracotta pots and a 'black angel' candlestick. Near the window, the couple placed a porcelain sink with brass mixers. The countertop was made from concrete. Open shelves and wooden beams in the ceiling helped emphasize the rustic style of the kitchen.
"We decided to change the kitchen layout," says Maria. "It made it much bigger and more spacious".
In winter, Maria and Perlan often sit by the cozy fireplace in the center of the kitchen-dining room with a cup of coffee.
Living RoomThe wooden walls give the house an unparalleled charm and countryside character, while clay pots with patina add atmosphere. The structures in the house are painted black to support the interior style popular over 10 years ago in Denmark. And how could a dream house be without a real fireplace? It is given a prominent place in the living room. Next to it, there's a console with various souvenirs from travels.
BathroomIn the bathroom, a pedestal sink was placed on a custom shelf and decorated with decor. For wall cladding, sand-toned tiles were chosen. In tone with Maria's choice, towels from Calvin Klein and a large mirror with backlighting were selected. This helped create a bright and cozy space.
StudyDue to their love of reading books, the couple constantly collects various works of fiction. "On the second floor we created a study," explains Perlan. Here they placed a wooden desk and a leather calendar on the wall. A herbarium of plants complements the setting. It was made by Maria's grandfather, which adds even more family warmth to the entire space.
Closet
In the closet, Maria placed an antique dresser brought from a French village and bought a painting on the wall in Thailand. A toilet table in the same style and an elegant mirror. Everything a modern woman needs fits into this space.
Bedroom
This room has nothing unnecessary; everything is minimal and simple. The bedroom is decorated in light tones, with a high soft headboard bed. Again, to make it comfortable to lie down with a book before sleep. The house always has fresh flowers that undoubtedly complement the decor. At the entrance to the bedroom, open shelves with books and a painting.
TerraceOn the terrace, the couple spends time together over a cup of coffee surrounded by cozy cushions and a warm blanket. For large family gatherings, there is a dining table always decorated with glass decanters and white textiles.
