How a Pro Transformed an Old House
Before throwing away something old and outdated, you should try to revive it. Sometimes this even applies to real estate, since not everyone buys new housing.
Here's how American designer Chris Benz decided to purchase an old house and completely transform it. We tell you how he brought this idea to life.
Background
This antique cottage was bought by Chris in Brooklyn several years ago. The building itself is unique — it was built at the beginning of the 20th century, but both interior and exterior were preserved perfectly.

To breathe new life into the manor and revive the spirit of the era, the designer painstakingly restored every detail. He restored original elements and created everything else anew using materials from the corresponding time period.

Color Gradient in Rooms
All rooms in the house have different shades. Chris selected them based on a gradient: from deep blue-gray to contrasted blue, from creamy yellow to soft pink.

During the renovation, he mixed various materials and textures but used only one color scheme in each room. The living room was done in blue tones, the kitchen in white, and the bedroom in yellow. This way, the interior became more expressive and avoided mismatched combinations.

The Drop of Honey
According to Chris, the hardest part about the house is keeping it clean. Books, flowers, ceramics, textiles — all of this collects a lot of dust. Additionally, it's difficult to find equipment that doesn’t clash with the authentic atmosphere.
