5 flaws in the foyer that can be fixed over the weekend
Simple tips that will help create a bright, comfortable and functional space
If the entrance area in your apartment is far from perfection, you can't find the item you need in the closet, and shoes and boxes are scattered under your feet — something needs to change. Start with the flaws that can be fixed in just a couple of days: hang brighter light bulbs, tidy up seasonal clothing, make the space cozier and brighter with mirrors — we explain how to use your weekend wisely.
The foyer is very dark
When you enter the apartment, it feels like you're in a cave. One lamp barely lights up the entrance area, and dark walls steal that small amount of light.
Solution: paint and illuminate! Light-colored walls are a necessity in a small corridor. They don't have to be white: peach, light gray, beige — the choice is vast. Add good lighting — a lifesaving duo for a small foyer. Place light sources above the mirror, in the wardrobe or next to it, above the console table — getting ready for work will become easier.

Foyers in standard apartments cannot boast of large size or convenient layout. Often, they are either a tiny patch between the entrance door and the room or a long narrow corridor.
Solution: use mirrors in the foyer interior — they help visually expand the space. Don't be afraid to decorate an entire wall with mirrors — the effect will be stunning. Such a panel can be ordered from a workshop and glued to the wall. Mirrored surfaces of wardrobes and dressers reflect light and make the corridor cozier and more welcoming — when buying furniture for the foyer, prefer such options.

Often, the foyer becomes a transfer point for bags, backpacks, clothes that you were supposed to organize but forgot. Disorganized storage of coats, raincoats and seasonal accessories looks untidy.
Solution: put things in a closet — the best solution to the problem. Volume and depth depend on the size of the foyer, in a tight corridor, you should give up the complex storage system. You can opt for a freestanding or built-in wardrobe. If you have a big family, avoid using open racks — they create an unpleasant effect of crowding and disorder.

Shoes arranged in rows along the wall usually don't bring anything good: dust and dirt gather nearby, and in winter, snow melt forms stains — and it doesn't look great.
Solution: boot racks and shoe shelves will help. A wide variety of options is available in stores, including hanging storage systems — they save a little useful space. Organizing the corridor will now be much easier.

When entering home, we immediately look for a place to put keys, bills that just came out of the mailbox, gloves. If there is no shelf for them in the foyer, moving things from place to place risks losing them.
Solution: even in the smallest foyer, you can find space for a small shelf to store small items. It could be a regular painted board with hooks for keys, or a stylish hanging console — now everything necessary will be in its place and always within reach.
