Ideas for Storing Winter Tires When There's No Space (Spoiler: Hide in a Wardrobe)
Looking for a suitable place to store tires at home
If you don't have a garage but still need to store wheels somewhere, storing them in an apartment is a logical solution. It's free of charge and the tires are always within reach if you need to change them.

Winter tires should be stored in a prepared space. For the location to be suitable, several conditions must be met:
- constant temperature above zero: +15°C is ideal for long-term storage;
- well-ventilated dark room;
- avoid high humidity: ideal humidity level is between 50 and 60%;
- before storing tires, they must be washed as road dirt mixed with chemical agents can damage the rubber.
Spacious wardrobes or walk-in closets can fit four wheels. However, particles of road dirt may still remain on the tread even if you thoroughly cleaned the wheels. Therefore, it's important to pack them into sturdy airtight covers.

This is the most suitable place for storing tire sets at home. Storage rooms are not exposed to direct sunlight, have stable temperatures, and are always dry and dark.
However, storage rooms in multi-apartment buildings are usually very small. To fit a full set of winter tires in tight space, install a special suspended shelf. A simple design consists of a sturdy frame with wall and ceiling mounting points. These shelves are sold in auto shops.

If there's no storage room but you have a balcony or loggia, send the tires there. The further from living spaces, the better. However, tires should not be left under open sky.
The best option is to provide a cabinet or sideboard for the wheels. This method of storage is reliable and aesthetically pleasing. A mobile rack with wheels can be used instead of a cabinet for easy relocation.

Sometimes there's not enough space for a cabinet on a narrow balcony. In such cases, hooks can be mounted on the wall to hang tires. However, always cover each tire with a protective sleeve.
