Spring: The Perfect Time for These Home Tasks: Checklist + Tips
Clean windows, donate clothes you don't wear to H&M, get a new plant from the flower shop and other must-do things
They say the whole spring will be cold — and that’s a great reason to thoroughly tidy up your home interior, since walks outdoors will be shorter than desired. Take a look at what you should spend time on right now.
Winter clothes — keep them away from the closet
Warm down jackets and boots won’t be needed for a while — just like heavy winter blankets.
Before hiding them, organize storage systems: wipe shelves and drawers from the inside with a soap solution or water with vinegar (three tablespoons per liter of water), dry them, and ventilate.

Designers recommend keeping two seasonal sets of curtains, throws, quilts, and cushion covers at home. Perfect if the spring-summer set is vibrant and light, while the cold season one is made of dense fabrics in cozy muted tones.
If you haven’t established this habit yet, try starting with cushions and throws: even a small change in textiles can instantly transform the interior’s mood. It also feels lighter.

Clean windows
Not in May, as most people do, but right now, when daytime temperatures are consistently above zero. By the way, it’s better to clean windows on cloudy days: that way, it's easier to spot streaks and other cleaning mistakes.

Small items in IKEA boxes, clothes on high shelves, balcony clutter: do a review of areas you don’t use often.
Start with the balcony right away: last year’s quarantine clearly showed how a lovely relaxation zone can be created there.

Carpets to dry cleaning
Even if you don’t plan to take them off the floor during warm weather, just vacuuming carpets doesn’t mean you’ll get rid of all dust and odors.

Of course, it’s useful to review your wardrobe at any time of year. But we recommend doing it in spring, when you’re especially eager for transformations and need to free up space in your closet for new items.
You can combine pleasure with utility by donating old clothes to H&M. The main condition is that everything should be clean. For one bag, the store gives a 15% discount on one item in your next purchase.

This not only makes the air cleaner but also helps your interior come alive in a new way. If you’re unsure what plant to choose, base it on size: larger varieties look more organic and visually more expensive than many small ones.

Choose a new home scent
Choosing scents is a matter of taste: everyone has their own associations with spring smells. However, we suggest avoiding mint and citrus notes: they’re too intense and won’t let you relax. Better go for popular scents like lavender, white flowers, or spices.
By the way, you can act like with textiles: keep backup candles, aromalamps, sachets, and even a fabric conditioner for both warm and cold seasons.
