There is a myth that wardrobes require a lot of space, while a closet is a budget-friendly solution anyone can afford. We decided to ask an expert on space organization whether this is true.

How much space is needed for a wardrobe?

The size of a wardrobe should be calculated based on the bedroom's square footage. If you have less than three square meters, a spacious closet is better.

Many think that wardrobes require a lot of space, but modern options are so mobile that they look like wardrobes from the outside and are functional and convenient inside.

Storage systems can use curtains instead of doors: they're cheaper and visually make the bedroom's interior lighter and more spacious.

A significant advantage of wardrobes over closets is their capacity.

When using a closet, part of the wall and the space above the ceiling remain unused. But when installing a wardrobe system, the area from floor to ceiling is filled, and additional storage space appears—such as attic spaces. Here you can store items rarely used: sports equipment, off-season clothes, spare pillows and blankets, suitcases, holiday decor, and a Christmas tree.

Wardrobe capacity also increases with sliding modules and baskets. Therefore, clothes here are well-ventilated, and the visibility of contents is much better than in a closet. When organizing, you can purchase modules for belts, ties, and accessories—this is more convenient than trying to fit everything on shelves in a closet.

For those who love open storage, wardrobes are the perfect choice.

Wardrobes are convenient for storing shoes—special sliding shelves can be installed for different types (heels and flat soles).

Pro Tip

To make a wardrobe look like images on Pinterest, hang clothes by length from long to short, from thick to thin, and from dark to light (within each category). Store the rest in baskets or organizers in a consistent style.

Summary: What to Choose?

Opt for modern mobile storage systems. They are functional, spacious, and can be used in any room or location (even in attic spaces).

They are easy to transform according to your needs and can be removed for relocation. Moreover, setting up a small wardrobe may cost less than buying a closet.
