Our imaginations are accustomed to thinking about idyllic places where it would be pleasant to welcome the New Year after watching Christmas movies. Dreams are like tastes—they vary. Some people imagine a house by the sea with blue horizons. Others see the timeless appeal of a well-furnished English cottage with a reliable fireplace or a cabin with a fully wooden facade to take advantage of skiing opportunities. And there are those who dream of celebrating the New Year under the sun on a beautiful and warm day.

Here are several places we have been to, which in our modest opinion reflect these ideal locations where it would be pleasant to spend the first day of the new year. Our mission is to inspire you and make you dream.

It's impossible to think of the Christmas season without remembering the charming English cottage from the classic movie "Holiday." This perfectly captures the atmosphere of this cozy cottage in Cotswold. Maria Soliman, co-founder of London's architecture and interior design studio Bergman Design House, created this cozy corner by skillfully combining new and vintage materials to create a rural interior design harmoniously blending with its surroundings. A British cottage that residents on the other side of La Manche would envy!

Danish architect Henrik Jansen wanted to live in harmony with nature. He fulfilled his childhood dream of a house where you could spend holidays and more, imagining this continuous villa on the Danish island of Møn. Nine spherical cabins that make up this peaceful retreat create a constant connection with the natural world. Large rectangular openings, such as this reading nook with a stool, enhance the sense of spaciousness. This feeling of privileged everyday natural views is fully intensified by natural light and stone floors.

This cozy and rural house near Mежёва promises holidays with a view of the Alps. The old barn that Alexia and Laurent transformed into an excellent rural sanctuary for city dwellers seeking greenery and a white horizon. They created this stunning cabin with an excellent wooden terrace under the guidance of master builder Pierre-Emmanuel Charbon (La Centrale de Rénovation) and architectural firm Atelier S. The second house that perfectly fits into its environment—from frame to floor through walls, entirely made of wood and covered with lime.
