Decorative Ideas for Wall Lighting in the Bathroom
Besides style, when choosing bathroom fixtures you should also consider safety, type of light or its placement. We give you all tips to choose (well) and a little inspiration. Light!
1. LIGHT YOUR MIRROR WELL
PinterestChoose cool white light, as close to natural daylight as possible (5000 ºK or higher), so it doesn't distort skin tone, which is very important when applying makeup. Around 200 lumens per square meter is recommended here.
2. IS THIS USEFUL?
PinterestNo. Ideally, for safety reasons, they should be IP44 [international protection index against dust and moisture, indicating lights resistant to humidity and dust] – the minimum recommended for humid and condensation-prone areas.
3. MOISTURE-RESISTANT EQUIPMENT
PinterestIt's important that fixtures are moisture-resistant and can come into direct contact with water (IP65 protection level) and, ideally, low-voltage. The transformer should be placed at least 50 cm away from the moisture source.
4. SYMMETRICAL WALL LIGHTING IN THE BATHROOM: ON BOTH SIDES OF THE MIRROR
PinterestThis is the most convenient placement of wall lights if you want to avoid any kind of light reflection.
5. ON THE SIDES
PinterestThis is another perfect way to install lights near a bathroom mirror. It creates proper spot lighting without reflections or glare.
6. INTEGRATE BATHROOM FIXTURES INTO DECORATION
PinterestWhen choosing the best wall light for a bathroom, you should consider room style: rural, provincial, industrial, urban... Mounting above the mirror is also common and appropriate.
7. WHAT LIGHT DO BATHROOM FIXTURES NEED?
PinterestMounts placed on both sides of the mirror or directly on it should not cast shadows and must have good color rendering, allowing for shaving or makeup application without dark spots and clearly seeing colors.
8. WHAT MATERIALS SHOULD BATHROOM FIXTURES BE MADE OF?
PinterestMetal and glass (clear, white, acid-washed...) are today's main materials used in manufacturing wall lights for bathrooms; you can also find fabrics, such as linen shades and nickel elements.
9. SOME SIDE MOUNTS
PinterestIf your mirror is built into the wall, like shown in the bathroom image, a good alternative is to place them on side walls, leaving enough space for the mirror to appear.
10. THE IDEAL ACCENT TO MAKE YOUR BATHROOM MORE MODERN
PinterestIf you want a modern bathroom, add a black wall light with clean lines and contemporary accents. This matches faucets and sink, drawing all eyes.
