Where to Place a Bed in a Small Studio: 5 Best Solutions
Save and take note!
Limited space requires an unconventional approach to interior design, especially when it comes to key elements like a bed. Modern design allows you to place a full-size sleeping area even in minimal space. We show 5 solutions from projects on where to place a bed in a small studio.
Use the Corner
Placing a bed in the corner of the room helps free up space and creates a cozy nest. Walls on both sides visually frame the bed and create an atmosphere of seclusion. Consider using curtains to ensure privacy, as designer Sarah Mikhailova did in her 18 sq.m studio. The bedroom area is just 4 sq.m, but every square centimeter is thought out. The bed features a lifting mechanism and storage box that effectively uses space. Stylish bedside lights make this mini-bedroom truly comfortable and cozy.

If you have high ceilings, consider building a loft. This frees up floor space for creating a dining area, living room, workspace, or storage zones. For example, in a 17 sq.m studio from Varvara Gоловko's project, the bedroom zone was moved to a loft level that covered the entrance hall and bathroom and added another 10 square meters of area. In addition to a large bed, storage sections were placed on the loft.

Some sleeping areas can be built into furniture structures, such as a platform. In this compact studio, a platform was built by the window and a living area was organized on it. Storage spaces and an extendable bed are located under the platform. This solution allows each square meter to serve its purpose. Thanks to a thoughtful approach, space becomes more harmonious and convenient for living.

Another unconventional solution was inspired by a 20 sq.m studio from Kogan Design Studio. The main element of the bedroom here was a transformer bed that fully merges with the wall during the day, creating an atmosphere of open space. At night it transforms into a cozy nest inviting rest. The bed is equipped with an orthopedic mattress that ensures comfortable sleep, like in a five-star hotel. This approach saves space, allowing you to create various living scenarios and making the interior more multifunctional and stylish.

If you want to separate the bedroom from the main area, consider using a screen or shelf as a partition. Natalia Kaltyeva in her 28 sq.m studio used a shelf for zoning the space, separating the bedroom from the living room. The shelf looks light and airy, which prevents weighting down the space and keeps it bright. Moreover, it provides additional storage for books and small items—very convenient in a limited space.
