Before and After: How We Transformed a 6 sqm Kitchen in a Khrushchyovka on a Budget
Bold choices and lots of color!
Designers from AURA studio updated the kitchen in a two-room Khrushchyovka, giving it individuality and brightness. They applied bold color schemes and thoughtfully designed ergonomics — now the kitchen is not only visually attractive but also functional, making it comfortable for daily use.

The previous kitchen interior was completely unremarkable. Cold colors and faded finishing created a depressing atmosphere, while outdated tiles and peeling paint added a sense of neglect. The old kitchen cabinet was inconvenient and untidy.
The kitchen door was removed, creating a more open space. The main color palette was inspired by the cultural code of Kaliningrad: terracotta, symbolizing the roofs of historical buildings, and blue representing the waters of the Baltic Sea. These colors bring vibrancy to the kitchen and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

In limited space, careful furniture selection is key. The kitchen cabinet was assembled from ready-made modules. The refrigerator is hidden behind the panels like a built-in unit, the microwave oven is also installed inside, and the cooktop is built-in.

The backsplash made of mosaic tiles in wall color adds interesting volume and texture, highlighting the work area.

The dining area is visually separated using a decorative panel harmonizing with the wall color. The dining table is complemented by a compact bench that saves space and offers additional storage options.

A budget-friendly approach with attention to proper materials and colors allowed us to create a cozy and stylish interior that stands out among similar rental offerings. Now this kitchen is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
