Design tricks will make the apartment thoughtful and atmospheric

An apartment in St. Petersburg designed by Yana Grotseva and Lampa Design Studio turned out to be light and functional, despite the complex layout. The designers found solutions that not only highlight style but also make the space as comfortable as possible for living. We break down seven tips worth noting.

Mirror Panel in the Foyer

A full-wall mirror not only visually expands space but also serves a decorative purpose. Here, it additionally masks the door to the guest bathroom, making the foyer look harmonious. This trick is useful for small corridors: the space immediately looks twice as wide.

Tip: use mirror panels not only for expansion but also to hide doors — this will give your interior a neat look.

Bar Counter by the Window

On the kitchen, designers placed a bar counter right by the window: this solution fits perfectly into a dynamic lifestyle. It's a convenient spot for breakfast, working on a laptop, or enjoying an evening glass of wine.

Tip: if you have a window in your kitchen, try using the area not only for a windowsill but also as a bar zone.

Wardrobe Around the Piano

In the living room, a white wardrobe framing the piano attracts attention. Instead of highlighting the instrument separately, designers made it part of the overall composition. Built-in furniture solves two tasks at once: the storage system looks cohesive, and the music corner becomes a natural part of the interior.

Tip: frame furniture or large items with built-in storage systems to maintain order.

Vibrant Ceiling in the Bedroom

In a private area, a bold accent was created: the ceiling and headboard were painted in sky-blue color. Combined with minty and pink details, the interior turned out cheerful. The approach also works as zoning — attention immediately focuses on the bed, and the atmosphere becomes personal.

Tip: use color on the ceiling if you want to add depth. The key is choosing soft tones so that the space doesn't feel oppressive.

Shower and Bathtub in One Room

The bathroom project combined both a shower and a separate bathtub with elegant legs. This is convenient: the shower suits fast-paced weekdays, while the bathtub creates a relaxing atmosphere.

Tip: if space allows, combine a shower and bathtub — you'll get two usage scenarios, and transparent partitions will help avoid making the room feel heavy.

Backlit Open Shelves

In the bathroom, attention is drawn to open shelves with backlighting: it not only creates a cozy glow but also highlights decorative items, turning them into part of the interior. The lighting makes even practical zones (like storage systems) more stylish.

Tip: use LED backlighting in niches and on shelves to emphasize details and add soft evening light.

Accent Floor in the Guest Bathroom

Even a small space can be made striking, and here it's shown through the floor. Zigzag tiles with contrasting inserts make the room dynamic: the accent helps transform a utilitarian space into an actual calling card of the apartment.

Tip: choose unusual flooring for small bathrooms to add character to your interior without extra costs.

In the Lampa Design Studio project, you can see how individual details can transform an apartment into a harmonious and stylish space. These ideas are easy to adapt in other interiors if you want your home to be practical yet expressive.
