Before and After: Amazing Bathroom Renovation in a Stalin-era Apartment
A dose of inspiration and beautiful design solutions
This bathroom is located in an old Stalin-era building. The space is quite spacious, with high ceilings and two windows. Designer Ekaterina Lyubimkina, working on the project, set herself the goal of creating a functional space where every detail is thought out to ensure maximum comfort.

Before the renovation, the bathroom had only one window. The outdated tiles on the walls looked outdated and did not contribute to creating a relaxing atmosphere, resembling hospital walls. In addition, the space was not divided into functional zones, which reduced its convenience.

After the renovation and re-planning, the bathroom acquired a completely new appearance. Adding a second window improved lighting and visually increased the usable area.

The presence of two windows allowed the designer to divide the bathroom into two zones. The bathtub and shower with a glass partition create a separate space for water procedures. Open shelves above the bathtub provide easy access to necessary accessories.

In the dry zone, there are two sinks and two mirrors, which allows efficiently handling the lack of space for morning and evening routines. Spacious wall-mounted cabinets provide necessary organization.
For the bathroom finish, a mixture of tiles and paint was used, giving the space a modern look, while ceramic granite was laid on the floor, which combines strength and ease of maintenance. The window sills and corners made from wood veneer add additional comfort and warmth to the overall atmosphere.
This renovation is a bright example of how functionality and style can be combined. The use of zoning, thoughtful material selection, and skillful lighting made the space both beautiful and maximally comfortable. As a result, the bathroom has become a place where one wants to spend time relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere.
