Summer is coming to an end, and designers are already preparing us for the new season

Summer is coming to an end, and designers are already preparing us for the new season. If you thought that autumn trends meant pumpkins and brown colors, prepare for surprises. 2025 turns our perception of 'autumn' interior design upside down. Bright neon accents coexist with velvet, and minimalism gives way to maximalism with character.

Main points from the article:

  • Bright neon accents replace traditional autumn color palette;
  • Velvet and velour return to living rooms and bedrooms as top favorites;
  • Maximalism beats minimalism — more decor, textures and colors;
  • Natural materials become luxury rather than an eco-trend;
  • Rounded forms in furniture completely replace sharp angles.

Neon Autumn: Why Brightness Wins Coziness

Forget muted terracotta and mustard tones. This autumn, designers are betting on electric colors: lime green, fuchsia, ultramarine. Sounds crazy? But these interiors are currently filling European design studios' feeds.

The secret is to use neon in moderation. One bright wall in the living room or neon cushions on a neutral sofa create the right effect without overdoing it. Psychologists explain the popularity of bright colors by the desire to compensate for autumn melancholy before it even arrives.

Especially striking, neon accents look great when combined with gray or white base backgrounds. A lime floor lamp transforms a boring living room into an art object, while a pink neon frame makes an ordinary mirror the center of attention.

The Velvet Revolution: Luxury Returns Home

Velvet has stopped being an attribute of palace style and is returning to modern interiors. But now it's not heavy drapes, but elegant accents: velvet chairs, sofa cushions, bed headboards.

Modern interior velvet is a technologically advanced fabric that doesn't collect dust and cleans easily. Designers especially love velvet in unexpected colors: emerald, sapphire, deep plum.

Velour is also returning but in a lighter version. Velvet poufs and beanbag chairs create a comfort zone without overloading the space. The main rule is no more than two velvet elements in one room.

Natural Materials as New Luxury

Wood, stone, linen have stopped being an 'eco-trend' and become a symbol of status. Solid oak costs more than any artificial coating, while linen bedding is a sign of good taste.

What's particularly valued are imperfections in natural materials. A table with a live wood edge, stone with natural inclusions, linen with slight creases — all this creates the feeling of authenticity in a synthetic world.

Rattan and jute are also gaining popularity, but in unexpected shapes. Jute lampshades, rattan chairs with soft cushions, storage baskets become stylish accents.

Maximalism with Wisdom: More Doesn't Mean Chaotic

Minimalism is giving way. In autumn 2025, it's trendy to fill space but do so thoughtfully. It's not about cluttering but layering — multi-layered decor.

Several carpets of different sizes layered on top of each other. Paintings hung not in a straight line but freely. Pillows of different shapes and textures on one sofa. The key is maintaining color harmony amid this 'chaos'.

Collecting is also in trend. A shelf with vintage vases, a wall with ceramic plates, a windowsill with succulents in pots of different shapes — all this creates the atmosphere of a lived-in home.

Rounded Forms Take Over Space

Sharp angles have officially gone out of fashion. Round tables, oval mirrors, curved sofas — all tend towards soft lines. Psychologists explain this by the desire to create a safe space in an unstable world.

Round coffee tables are especially relevant. They're safer for children and create a more intimate atmosphere for conversations. Oval mirrors visually soften the space and suit almost any style.

Arched openings are also in trend, but they can be imitated using decorative overlays or simply rounding door corners with special corner pieces.

Lighting as the Main Decor

A chandelier in the center of a room is yesterday's style. Now it's trendy to create lighting scenarios using multiple light sources with varying intensities.

Light fixtures of unusual shapes are especially popular: in the form of molecules, abstract sculptures, giant light bulbs. LED strips hidden behind cornices or under furniture create the effect of floating objects.

Candles remain relevant, but now they're placed in groups of 7-9 at different heights. This creates a dramatic effect and fills the home with warmth without turning on heating.

Functionality Hides Behind Beauty

Practicality is never canceled, but now it should be invisible. Storage systems are built into walls, cables are hidden in special boxes, and household appliances are disguised as furniture.

Transformable items are especially popular. A coffee table that turns into a dining table. A pouf with built-in storage system. A mirror behind which a bar is hidden.

Autumn mood in interior design 2025 is a bold experiment with color, textures and forms. The main rule of the new season: your interior should reflect your individuality, not follow strict canons. Choose what evokes emotions and don't be afraid to combine incompatible elements. Because the most trendy interior is one where you feel comfortable living.
