Before and After: How to Budget-Friendly and Stylishly Transform a Kitchen in a 38 sqm Studio Apartment

Designer Alexandra Voinova successfully created an interior reminiscent of Pinterest images, without resorting to large-scale renovation. We explain how she transformed the kitchen at minimal cost using simple and impactful techniques.

Before the renovation, the kitchen was in good condition but needed an update—freshness, comfort, and originality. The main goal was to breathe new life into the interior with beautiful flowers and thoughtful decoration.

Initially, the walls were not planned to be painted, but during a detailed inspection, it was discovered that they had stains and signs of aging. For painting, the same shade was used—resulting in a significantly fresher appearance.

The kitchen cabinet remained the same—affordable IKEA model of good quality did not require replacement. However, the table, chairs, carpet, and lighting were replaced with new elements. The chairs were chosen with different upholstery in accent colors, adding individuality and variety. A unique collage of posters above the table became the central decorative element, giving the kitchen character and style.

The refrigerator was moved into a niche, freeing up space for a fold-out chair and shelves with books. Now the kitchen is not only more atmospheric but also more convenient. Due to the impossibility of wall grooving, the designer chose lamps with cords and plugs, which turned out to be a functional and stylish solution.

This kitchen transformation proves that stylish design does not require huge financial investments or major renovations. With simple changes in textiles, decor, and lighting, it's possible to create a cozy and beautiful space where friends can be invited or family time can be enjoyed.
