Before and After: Bright Kitchen Interior in a Khrushchyovka
Portion of inspiration and beautiful design solutions
This stunning kitchen was designed by designer Polina Chernyshova. The goal was to create an interior that would evoke emotions and leave no one indifferent. A bet was placed on bright tones and high-quality finishing, which makes the kitchen look unconventional, stylish, and modern.

Before the renovation, this kitchen looked quite dull. Dark cabinets with an active pattern were outdated long ago, and the brown cabinet suite seemed boring and irrelevant. All utilities and the gas stove were visible, which only added to the feeling of disorder and discomfort.
The designer left the kitchen in its place but moved the entrance from the living room side. A cassette-type door was installed between the living room and kitchen, which is an important aspect for re-planning, especially in gas-equipped rooms. The textured glass on the doors echoes the rhythm of panels on the walls and the coffee table in the living room, creating a cohesive visual effect.

The walls are painted in light color, helping to visually expand the space. The floor tiles resemble an old coat of arms of the city of Königsberg, adding a historical depth to the interior. The cabinet was made to order. Upper facades are enhanced with inserts of perforated metal — they provide ventilation and add originality to the kitchen. The backsplash made from white tiles with an interesting pattern is accentuated by a stylish black edging.

The kitchen is thoughtfully furnished down to the smallest detail. A built-in refrigerator under the countertop, a gas cooktop, and an extractor hood provide necessary conveniences for cooking. The microwave is placed in a cabinet, freeing up the work surface. Behind one of the facades, a washing machine is hidden. A dishwasher with a width of 450 mm also harmoniously fits into the concept. The windowsill, made in the form of a countertop, serves as a comfortable place for morning coffee, quick breakfasts, and snacks.

Special attention should be paid to the artwork on the kitchen wall, which was created by the designer herself. Inspired by one painting, she wanted to depict happy ladies from the Baltic coast in beach season. A precise technical specification was provided for developers, which allowed bringing the idea to life.

This bright kitchen in a khrushchyovka is an ideal example of combining functionality and style. A successful layout and thought-out solutions made it comfortable, ergonomic, and original.
