Everything here is subordinated to symmetry, but there isn't a single boring solution

Designing a kitchen in a country house is always a challenge: you need to find a balance between functionality and expressive architecture, especially when the kitchen adjoins the entrance area. The team at Taupe Home faced exactly this task while working on the interior of a two-story cottage in Pavlovsk.

The house was intended for a family with three children and was envisioned as a place of solitude, peace, and inspiring atmosphere. The interior was created from scratch, including architecture and layout.

The house was built according to an individual project, and the layout was developed with the involvement of designers, so here 'before' is a raw space without finishing. The first floor includes the living room, dining room, and kitchen.

The kitchen was immediately separated by a glass partition, while maintaining visual connection with the main space. This allowed organizing a more cozy and calm workspace without fully isolating it.

The kitchen is designed in a niche and decorated in a restrained U-shaped configuration. The lower modules are made with classic white facades with panels — they make the kitchen appear light and visually dissolve it against the background of light walls.

Dark wood tones were chosen for the columns and tall cabinets, which add graphic impact and complement the color of the dining set. This approach allowed maintaining symmetry without visually overloading the space.

All appliances are built-in: a two-burner stove, oven, and wine cabinet seamlessly integrated into the solid dark built-in section. The countertop and backsplash are made of quartz agglomerate with a subtle marble pattern that is also repeated in the floor cladding.

The floor features black glossy ceramic tile with white veins: it highlights the kitchen area without disrupting the overall composition.

One particular detail deserves attention — the range hood, a cylindrical model made of stainless steel. It does not draw attention but sets a vertical axis in the high room. Thanks to the panoramic window on the side wall, the kitchen is always well-lit despite the dark floor and facades.

This kitchen is not just a functional space but an organic part of the complex architectural composition of the house. It's isolated yet transparent; strictly symmetrical but not boring; restrained yet expressive. This approach allows using the kitchen for its intended purpose without compromising the aesthetic integrity of the interior.
