Before and After: Tiny Bright Kitchen in a Brezhnev-Era Apartment 45 m²
Lacanian interior with no unnecessary elements
This cozy and bright two-room apartment was arranged by designer Daria Kurchanova for a young and active girl. She created a minimalist and functional interior while preserving the original layout. The kitchen area is about 6 sq. m. But here everything necessary was arranged and a bright and cozy space for comfortable living was created.

Before the renovation, the kitchen was a worn-out and featureless space. The wallpaper with a dull pattern created a depressing atmosphere, and the tiles on the backsplash made the room even colder and less attractive. The old furniture, which had long served its purpose, added a feeling of neglect and inconvenience.
Photo before renovationFor the walls in the new interior, light tones were chosen. The sero-blue ceramic granite was laid continuously with the hallway. Thanks to its graphic pattern, the floor became a focal point uniting both rooms and giving them a modern stylish look. The window between the kitchen and bathroom was preserved — it lets in light into the small bathroom, creating an opportunity to take a shower with natural lighting.
The cabinet was installed corner, white, with upper fronts reaching the ceiling, providing maximum storage. A small refrigerator was placed separately, with space reserved for storing the family tableware above it.
An interesting solution was the smooth continuation of white tiles on the backsplash onto the wall near the window. This adds lightness and visual depth, and also harmoniously fits into the overall design of the kitchen.
Pay attention to the video: Near the window, a compact wooden table and chairs were placed. They make the room cozier, warmer, and serve as an excellent place for daily meals or gatherings with friends. Retro-style lighting became a delicate accent in the renovated kitchen, bringing notes of comfort and nostalgia into the atmosphere.
The designer successfully arranged a functional kitchen where it's pleasant to spend time. It delights with its style and comfort, remaining maximally convenient for everyday life.
