Thanks to designer Galina Ovchinnikova, this classic kitchen in a two-room Khrushchyovka was completely transformed after renovation. The main task was to create a convenient and ergonomic layout, and to design a neutral yet bright and memorable interior. The budget for the renovation was limited. Let's see what was achieved.

The kitchen had not been renovated for a long time. Reddish peeling paint, dirt, and stains on the walls, worn-out linoleum, old wooden windows, and outdated furniture made the space look gloomy and depressing.

As a result of the re-planning, the kitchen itself remained in place, only the previous door opening was patched up and the entrance to the living room was moved. This solution significantly improved the ergonomics of the space. The house is gasified, so a sliding door was installed between the kitchen and the room.

The new wall finishing is done in a neutral gray tone — this is an optimal color for a small space. The kitchen cabinet is linear and quite compact. Graphite matte doors were selected, and black household appliances were installed. The old passage to the kitchen was replaced with a standalone refrigerator. The stove was moved to the opposite side, which allowed for a larger and more convenient work surface.

An original solution is the use of bright terrazzo ceramic tiles for the backsplash, window frames, and sills. This creates an elegant yet tasteful accent. The checkered pattern looks great against monochrome walls and cabinets, and the material is durable and low-maintenance.

Near the window, a bar area was created for quick breakfasts. The dining area with a sliding round table was moved into the living room and became the focal point of the interior. This was helped by relief panels and an original painting with a goose, specially created for this project.
