Designer Anastasia Finko expanded the bathroom by reconfiguring the layout, making it more spacious and modern.

In the renovation project of a one-room apartment in a 1981 five-story building, designer Anastasia Finko decided to completely change the space by enlarging the bathroom at the expense of an impractical corridor. This allowed not only to increase the area but also to add modern and convenient elements to the interior.

Originally, the bathroom was a typical space with outdated square tiles and modest design. Everything looked boring and impractical: there was no storage space, and the plumbing occupied almost the entire area.

The reconfiguration not only visually expanded the space but also allowed placing a washing machine and a large storage cabinet. These elements blended harmoniously into the interior and made it more functional.

The designer focused on tiles that resemble old white square ones but in a modern design. Combined with blue grout and walls painted in the same color, the room looked fresh and original. A non-standard shaped mirror with a blue frame, custom-made, adds individuality, while a white magnetic hatch painted to match the walls was a cost-effective solution for hidden utilities. The floor also features white tiles with a colorful minimalist pattern and light grout.

The designer decided not to change the bathtub and instead restored the old cast iron one using acrylic enamel. The designer advises choosing a trusted master for such work and warns that the coating may yellow over time.

One of the features of the new bathroom was the use of brass fixtures. The storage cabinet, originally white, was decorated with a long brass handle with beautiful balls at the base. The interior was also enhanced with abstract graphic images on the shower curtain – this element adds an artistic touch and distinguishes the bathroom from typical solutions.

Anastasia Finko admits that an important role in the transformation was played by a painting. In her opinion, this element helps make the bathroom more cozy and individual.

Transforming a bathroom from an unattractive space into a stylish and modern area became possible thanks to a successful reconfiguration and thoughtful design.
