5 Unusual Solutions for the Bathroom

The area of this bathroom is 8 sq. m. Designer Olga Shumantseva divided it into several functional zones, maintaining the overall concept of the apartment in the finishing. We share interesting and practical solutions that are easy to replicate in your interior design. They will help make the bathroom convenient, stylish, and functional.

Laundry in a cabinet

Right at the entrance, a laundry area was set up by placing the washing and drying machines in a cabinet unit. To save space maximally, the appliances were installed one on top of another using special brackets. Above is a shelf for storage.

Integrated sink

A modern and practical solution is a sink styled to blend with the countertop. It makes cleaning easier and gives the bathroom a stylish look. The sink is built-in to the full-width cabinet, with space on the sides for necessary items and accessories.

Wallpaper for the walls

In the main wet zone, the walls were tiled. The rest of the area was covered with wallpaper featuring a floral pattern. To protect them from moisture, a special lacquer was applied on top. This maintains the overall interior concept — the same wallpaper is used to cover part of the wall in the kitchen-living room.

There's a hatch above the installation for utilities. It was also covered with wallpaper to visually hide it in the interior.

Shower cabin

Due to the room size, both a bathtub and a shower cabin were placed. The floor in the shower was tiled with a slight slope. This allowed replacing the threshold with a silicone protective cover — thanks to the slope, water flows directly into the drain.

Thoughtful lighting

Sufficient number of recessed lights were installed on the ceiling. They evenly illuminate the entire space. A mirror with backlight was hung above the sink, which serves both functional and decorative purposes — solving lighting issues for skincare routines and makeup application and setting the right atmosphere, highlighting key elements.
