Small but spacious 6.5 sqm kitchen in a brezhnev-era apartment

Designer Yana Mishukova transformed a two-room apartment in a panel building of series 1605-AM-12 for herself and her husband. The kitchen here is isolated and quite small—only about 6.5 sqm. The cabinet was installed in a 'G' shape, with a standalone refrigerator and a small dining area added.

Before the renovation, the passage to the kitchen was in the form of an arch, outdated design of the kitchen cabinet and beige-colored walls did not add beauty. In the end, everything was dismantled, the standard opening was restored, and an attic was added above it for storage.

The kitchen was custom-made. The refrigerator is 150 cm high and not built-in, a two-burner stove, a 45 cm wide oven, a 45 cm wide dishwasher and a built-in microwave oven—this is the main set of appliances. The kitchen cabinets extend to the ceiling.

For the countertop, quartz agglomerate was used. The splashback was kept simple and painted in the same color as the main walls, with matte glass added for protection from grease and dirt.

The apartment walls were painted with Little Greene paint. In the passage zones of the kitchen and hallway, wall panels were used up to 90 cm from the floor—these protect the walls from the dog and from chair backs hitting in the dining area.
