Designer Svetlana Olenburg created an interior with a European atmosphere in a new building in Saint Petersburg

Designer Svetlana Olenburg decorated a two-room apartment of 54 sqm for an adult family couple. The goal was to create a maximally comfortable and functional space filled with light and air.

City: Saint Petersburg
Area: 54 sqm
Rooms: 2
Bathrooms: 2
ceiling Height: 3 m
Designer: Svetlana Olenburg, SOL Design
Photographer: Ekaterina Titenko
Stylist: Svetlana Olenburg

Layout

The initial layout was a standard plan provided by the developer, with windows on both sides of the building — cross-ventilation. As a result of the rearrangement, the kitchen and living room were merged.

Kitchen-Living Room

The kitchen cabinet is placed parallel along opposite walls. The bar counter is located by the window — it connects two parts of the cabinet. All household appliances are built-in. The kitchen is standardly equipped with many storage spaces.

The walls are covered with monochrome wallpaper. It was necessary to fit into the specified budget, and wallpapers significantly reduced wall preparation costs.

"The sofa was purchased by the client themselves, and it turned out that they recorded the fabric code incorrectly. As a result, they brought a sofa with a large graphic pattern. Initially, everyone was scared of such an effect, but in the end, it became an accent and harmonized well with the dining table base. The sofa took root," — says the designer.

The living room was decorated with a Raindrops Medium — Brass panel from Artisan. It was chosen as a replacement for the expected framed photographs. All color tones of the interior were gathered in it.

Bedroom

A fresco was placed behind the headboard, and color samples were done on order. "When the client mentioned their budget, it became clear that we had to exclude luxury finishes and foreign furniture. We saved money on built-in furniture (bodies in MDF, mainly shelves). Separate furniture was purchased partially, according to financial possibilities," — the designer shares.

Bathrooms

The bathroom was slightly reduced by moving a wall — this was necessary to expand the hallway and install a wardrobe. Large-format tiles, brass profiles, and paint were used for finishing (a combination of warm and cool tones).

Hallway

An interesting detail in the project is the windows. They are panoramic but not full height. It was necessary to keep a thermal curtain and maximize their area through the use of portals, so the hallway now features benches with soft mattresses.
