Before and After: Incredible Transformation of a 90 sqm Stalin-era Apartment
Bookshelves for books, an antique desk, a sideboard with antique porcelain and figurines gave the apartment a completely unique feeling of connection between old and new
Designer Svetlana Pahomova helped update the interior of a three-bedroom apartment in a Stalin-era building. The clients received it as an inheritance with old renovation and antique furniture. They decided to keep most of the furniture and incorporate it into the new setup. As a result, the space became more convenient and functional.
Kitchen Before Renovation
The kitchen was in a "dead" condition, with old Soviet furniture and square tiles. The goal was to make it functional, beautiful, and stylistically appropriate.

Kitchen After Renovation
The design of the kitchen was inspired by the classic kitchen of the client, where she lived before. Combined with elegant Spanish pink tiles and a trendy wall color, the furniture came alive with completely new hues.

We preserved the cabinet under the windowsill for storing jars and pickles, but moved the radiator to the wall. We installed a convenient outlet by the window for a music system. For storing numerous dishes and cookbooks, we designed a spacious shelf.
We decided to make the kitchen vibrant, bright, and eye-catching in a glossy Radicchio color. The interior perfectly complemented the Moscow map by Artemiy Lebedev, brought back from one of the owners' trips to the capital. From the window, you can see the skyscraper of Vysochensky in Ekaterinburg.

During the renovation, we removed a large cabinet with antiques in the hallway and replaced it with a convenient storage unit with sliding doors.

Dining Room Before Renovation
Almost all surfaces in the apartment were occupied by books and other items. The dark antique furniture cluttered the space. There was a desire to add air and make the room more functional.

Dining Room After Renovation
A wide passage in the dining room was left under a French-style hinged door, and where the doorway from the living room to the dining room once stood, we created a fireplace portal. For wall finishing, we chose a noble green shade called Sage Green.

We preserved the beloved round table and chairs that have survived many festive dinners and meetings with friends. For example, poet Ilya Kormiltsev, author of lyrics for Nautilus Pompilius, director Alexei Balabanov, and famous actors from the Ekaterinburg TЮZ once sat at this table.

Bathroom Before Renovation
The most radical transformation affected the bathrooms, which had not been renovated since the 1960s.

Bathroom After Renovation
We used Spanish tiles Equipe and Russian Kerama Marazzi combined with a beautiful paint color from Little Greene. The mirror was ordered from INMYROOM, and the hexagonal shape in the tiles matches the hexagon in the mirror.
