With our selection, it's easy to find inspiration for a renovation or balcony update
A balcony is a great opportunity to create a space for relaxation or a home office. The projects of our heroes are proof of that. No more storage of unnecessary items, just functionality and comfort. Check out and save the ideas!
European Atmosphere Balcony
In this three-room Stalin-era apartment, the small balcony was not glazed. The owner Anna specifically looked for an apartment with an open balcony and wrought iron to create a French-style interior and enjoy the view of the inner green courtyard.
They laid square tiles with a classic herringbone pattern. The wrought iron railing was painted black and decorated with hanging planters with flowers. They placed a couple of folding chairs and a table on the balcony, and it became the perfect spot for summer breakfasts.

Relaxation and Leisure Balcony
Initially, blogger Anna Kharitonova and her husband wanted to make the balcony a storage area and place a cabinet there. But then they changed their minds, created a relaxation corner, and were very happy with the result. They painted the brick wall white and pastel pink for a few accents on the walls, and laid laminate on the floor.
In one part of the balcony, there is a rocking chair. It was hung on an anchor bolt with a ring, which was screwed into the concrete slab. On the other side, they made a mini sofa with plenty of storage space inside. Above it, there are a couple of shelves decorated.

Narrow Balcony with Bar Counter
The balcony for Dasha’s family is one of their favorite spots in the house. When choosing finishes, they opted for natural materials and colors to make it easy to change decor. They insulated the lower part of the balcony, so it can be used not only in summer but also in spring and autumn.
Along the height of the balcony railing, there is a bar counter. It doesn’t take up too much space in this already narrow area. On one side of the balcony, they set up a cabinet, and on the opposite side, a lounge seat. By the way, in this sofa, they hid a large storage box for bulky items like children's bicycles.

Practical Balcony Built With Own Hands
The balcony area is 3.6 square meters, and everything here was built with own hands. The balcony is clad in boarding and partially painted white. The storage cabinet and bench were also made by the homeowners, just like the seat box. The bench is convenient: it’s a relaxation zone, and when you open the top lid, there's a lot of storage space inside.
There is also a fold-down table on the balcony: owners often have breakfast here, and in the evenings they drink tea. Also, pay attention to the improvised trellis and lamp. For the latter, they used a RÖTTERA table lamp from IKEA, to which they simply connected a bulb.

Open Balcony in a Stalin-era Apartment
Alena and her husband weren’t afraid to leave the balcony open — they aren’t scared of rain, dust, or traffic noise. Instead, they enjoy the time spent here and get more natural light in the room.
To transform the balcony in a Stalin-era apartment, they replaced the old windows with new ones, leveled the slab, laid tiles, cleaned, and painted the railings. They didn’t update the brick wall, as they wanted to preserve the internal appearance of the building. For the balcony setup, they chose a coffee table, folding chair, and many plants.

Beautifully Viewed Glazed Balcony
Pavel initially liked the view from the windows of this apartment. He wanted to make full use of that bonus, so he decided to fully glaze the balcony. Light aluminum frames with single-pane glass were installed on top, and tempered glass at the bottom for better safety.
The floor of the balcony was raised, leveled with the room floor, and laminated. They placed a couple of rattan chairs, a portable table from IKEA’s BURVI line, and laid a farmhouse-style rug on the floor.

Mini Office on the Balcony
In this flat, the balcony in the bedroom serves as a mini office with everything needed for comfortable work: a chair and desk, shelves for books and documents, and good lighting.
The homeowners decided not to insulate the balcony. The apartment is in Krasnodar, and harsh winters don’t occur here. The red bricks from the developer were repainted white, and tiles were laid on the floor. The balcony window was decorated with Roman curtains.
