No Experience and DIY: Just See How the Blogger Beautifully Decorated the Plot
Interesting ideas for your plot that are easy to replicate
You might remember Oxana Tsoy from our article: "House with Second Light 12×12 m, where everything was done by hand," which detailed how to save money during construction and how to paint walls yourself. This time we wanted to show you Oxana's wonderful plot.
The alpine hill, which came about completely by accident, a beautiful three-tiered flower bed with strawberries and secrets of pine care — all this we learned from our heroine today.
Evergreen plants
The main decoration of our plot is, of course, the large pines. They were already there when we bought the plot, and even some small pines were planted, part of which we also left. Pines are beautiful at any time of year and absolutely low-maintenance, which is why we love them.
It dawned on me that you can and should do formative pruning of pines to get unusual shapes and density. I've been doing this for three years now, and there are already results. It's simple: in late May, you need to pinch the fresh shoots of the plant.

Alpine Hill from What Is AvailableOriginally, our entire plot was uneven and overgrown with shrubs and large weeds. The first year we cleared and leveled everything, while also laying utilities. When planning the plot, a tractor dug up several large boulders from the ground, which were transported to one side and left there temporarily — thus my alpine hill was formed.
Over time, I started planting things there and something began to come together. Now everything looks quite charming.
Beautiful and TastyWhile building the house, we bought some plants at a nursery — apples, pears, plums, cherries, blackberries, raspberries, and currants. This year they promise the first harvest.
Also, before building the house, a greenhouse appeared on my plot. I don’t regret it at all; on the contrary, I love playing around in it, and we as a family consider it a great pleasure to go out and eat cucumber or tomato right off the vine.

Multi-tiered Flower BedThe multi-tiered flower bed was my fantasy, and now I’ve finally brought it into reality! I ordered it on the website of the store "Beautiful Garden Bed," assembled it myself — it was simple. Then I planted strawberry and rhubarb bushes among them, and between the plants I planted pansies. This is a good combination — pansies repel many pests, plus they look beautiful. Berries and flower buds have already appeared, everything will be as I dreamed.
Flower bed – 2,850 rubles.
Beautiful FurnitureGarden chairs stand outdoors all year round. They spent the winter right in the garden, and we used them for tea parties and grilling by the fire when there weren’t strong frosts. Recently I got myself a lounge chair — they are also wonderful: stylish and comfortable.
Two lounge chairs and a table – approximately 100,000 rubles.DIY Decorations
I got a great shelf and large wooden planters for flowers made by my husband to the exact dimensions I needed. The planters stand on the terrace and are coated with terrace antiseptic. In summer, they hold seasonal flowers. In winter, I put pine branches in them: they decorate the terrace. The shelf appeared quite recently. We made it for seedlings indoors, but decided to take it outside in summer for flowers. It’s magical. You can make such things yourself, armed with imagination and a little time.
On Unsuccessful ExperimentsIn my first year of country life, I bought everything at random, not really understanding if the plant would suit our climate. We consider ourselves in a risky zone for agriculture. And I planted glycine, walnuts, and large-leaf hortensias. Result — a sad experience, but still an experience.
Now I’ve come to the conclusion that I like plants that can cope with conditions on their own, without requiring “dancing” around them.
On Inspiration for a Beginning GardenerIn fact, I’ve always dreamed of my own house and garden, so for me this is a natural process. If I don’t know something — I just read or ask experienced gardeners from older generations and learn. In my first year in the countryside, I was surprised how someone could easily distinguish barely visible seedlings — whether they were weeds or cultivated plants... Now I myself can easily clear flower beds and spot weeds from afar.

Gardening is not a fast process. There are its pros: you learn patience and creation. This year I planted — I wait for the results of my labor for a year or two... Of course, if you have the opportunity, you can buy bigger plants, but their price is outrageous, and whether they’ll survive is unknown. I like the process of growing from a small sapling into a plant. Each year, you see the results of your efforts and rejoice like a child. In the mornings, I regularly go for a walk — to see how everything grew overnight, and if I’m away for a few days, I fly faster and am amazed by everything.
