How Designers Decorated a Small Studio in Stockholm
This micro-studio of 29 square meters is easy to take for a living room: looking at it, you feel like you're about to bump into doors through which you could enter other rooms. The layout is to blame, which in fact represents a single rectangular room: no niches or corners, no hallway and no separate kitchen.

Given such a layout, it would have been appropriate to separate the sleeping area and other functional zones. However, interior stylists from real estate agency Maklarhuset did not divide the apartment into small pieces and decorated it as a whole, as if it were not an apartment at all but rather a room in a cozy boutique hotel.

Originally, there was already a technologically advanced kitchen cabinet with upper cabinets reaching the ceiling, built-in extractor hood and fridge cabinet, as well as a minimalistic module that serves both as a bar counter and storage for kitchenware.
As with the wardrobe doors in the entryway, the kitchen fronts were designed in neutral tones of gray and beige, making them an excellent base for any stylistic solution for the interior.

Starting from the color of the fronts, decorators added a pair of tall armchairs and a sofa in matching tones. They found a bed with the right shade of mouse gray and placed it next to the sofa by the window.
The zone of private space was subtly defined with a variety of lighting fixtures surrounding the sleeping area. There is an IKEA table lamp, elegant paired lights, and a tripod floor lamp: any of these can be turned on or all at once for different lighting scenarios.

The classical chandelier at the entrance and mirrors framed in frames add luxury and theatricality to the interior. The smaller mirror was hung over the dresser, while the full-length mirrors were stacked one on top of the other – this creates a very intimate look. At least, such an approach would fit naturally in boutique hotels.
