5 Top Booths at Salone del Mobile.Milano Moscow 2018
Recently ended the international exhibition Salone del Mobile.Milano Moscow 2018, which is attended annually by over 30,000 people. We didn't stay out and went to Crocus Expo for inspiration. Also, we chose 5 booths that particularly pleased us.
Kartell
The company Kartell booth, as always, attracts all attention. This year they not only presented new releases but also classic design items. For example, the transparent plastic Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck — a humorous version of the classic chair in the style of Louis XV.
Famous Componibili sideboards — the first modular furniture piece made from durable ABS plastic. By the way, in the previous year they turned 50 years old — the first sideboards were released in 1967. Among several variants at the exhibition, we liked the mirror gold-toned models.
Also — many crystal lamps and tableware. For example, the Jellies collection made from acrylic by designer Patricia Urquiola.
Impressive new releases — elegant black Catwalk chairs and pilot version of the Venice chair in several colors. Both models were designed by Philippe Starck.
And light mobile lamps Space — they turn on with a touch.

Eichholtz
The Eichholtz booth occupied 130 square meters, and all presented items were new releases. Many designer lamps — minimalist table lamps and luxurious pendant lights, soft furniture, coffee tables, and decor — mirrors, candleholders.

Most of the decor items were made from brass — in 2018 this material was especially popular. Another trend that loudly declared itself this year — coffee tables with marble tops. Combined with dark graphite walls, such furniture looks striking.
Edra
The producer of Italian furniture didn't miss its iconic piece — the Pack sofa by Francesco Binfaré. It was released a year ago, in honor of the company's anniversary.
You probably also see not just a sofa back but a bear lying on an ice floe. It symbolizes the freedom we possess and do not realize its fragility.

A new release that wasn't at the Milan exhibition — a lotus-shaped chair adorned with sparkling crystals. A triple collaboration between Edra, Japanese designer Masanori Umeda, and Swarovski.
Sitting on such a chair will be quite comfortable. Despite the fact that the upholstery features two thousand crystals, none of them catch stockings. We didn't test it, but it feels smooth and pleasant to the touch.

Also, we were drawn to chairs made from polycarbonate — transparent polymer plastic. By the way, none of the presented items were made from glass — lightweight and safe plastic is trendy now.

Roberto Cavalli
The world-famous company presented a relatively small booth in light gray tones. There were many exotic prints — tropics, zebra, leopard. There were also textures. The walls had scale-printed wallpaper and fabric samples.
Monochrome décor was complemented by soft furniture with contrasting upholstery and textiles. Here, the latest trends of the outgoing year were also found — marble tops, lamps, and brass legs.

Etro
One of the most vibrant and relaxed booths at the exhibition. The furniture upholstery and even walls were decorated with the signature 'paisley' pattern, popular in the East.

Among the colors, red stands out — it's in the furniture upholstery, textiles, and even lamp finishes. It is complemented by yellow, blue-green, and purple shades. By the way, here we found a mustard carpet with an animalistic print and a travel chair — a collaboration between Etro and Jumbo Group.
Again, marble tops — though not the standard black-gray ones. Etro presented more vibrant versions — red-brown and emerald shades. We definitely like the trend of complex colors — it looks stylish and not boring.

Favorite booths of Olga Kosyreva
We asked Olga Kosyreva which booths at Salone del Mobile.Milano Moscow impressed her most.
Olga Kosyreva — expert, design historian, design critic, organizer and director of 'Olga Kosyreva Design Lectures'
This year I liked the new booth design — without aluminum posts and uniform modular structures. All booths were in white frames, and the ceiling height was normal, 'human' — this gave the booths a home-like scale.
The main and most impressive booths were concentrated at the beginning of the exhibition: Kartell, Edra, Flou, Fendi Casa, Annibale Colombo, Scic — pillars of Italian furniture industry. I won't name the best one, choosing between Edra and Fendi Casa, between avant-garde and bourgeois style.
Fendi Casa
For the second year, I notice the CC Tapis carpet booth — they bring new releases from the Milan exhibition to Moscow, and they always look stunning.
CC Tapis
Another booth that pleased me with its color palette — Calligaris. And the Artceram booth surprised with its Memphis-style aesthetics and interesting color combinations.
