October is coming, which means the interior design exhibition Salone del Mobile. Milano Moscow is about to start. We keep our fingers on the pulse and continue covering this significant event

As we mentioned earlier, the continuation of the largest Italian exhibition Salone del Mobile. Milano this year will take place in Moscow for the fourteenth time, but with an updated name — Salone del Mobile. Milano Moscow. In focus of this guide are fresh trends, iconic personalities and everything for which you should put your affairs aside from October 10 to 13 and definitely attend these days at the Crocus Expo Center.

Salone del Mobile. Milano Moscow: Facts and Figures

In Moscow, the exhibition was first held in 2005, along with the first SaloneSatellite competition for young designers. At different times, exhibition masterclasses were held with participation of Patricia Urquiola, Duilio Forti, Giuseppe Della Giusta and Cristina Celentano. This year, we expect bold and eccentric Fabio Novembre.

Fabio Novembre

Fabio Novembre brings furniture and decor, lighting, kitchens and textiles from more than 250 companies to Moscow this year.

SaloneSatellite-2017 gathered projects from nearly 50 participants. Last year, over 30,000 people visited the Moscow exhibition within four days. Similar figures are expected now.

Trends and Trends of the Upcoming Exhibition

Revealing the veil, we offer a look at vibrant items and new products from Salone del Mobile. Milano Moscow participants.

The Milan fair sets the trend for the 70s with all its implications, including terracotta, mustard, dark green shades and smooth retro silhouettes. Many brands communicate the theme of the East and Asia. Some through oriental woodblock prints or Japanese maple motifs, others dedicate entire collections to this direction. Wooden furniture is timeless in style, but this year designers have focused on matte finishes. The wood is either very light or very dark. Velvet upholstery for sofas, armchairs and poufs, curtains and bed headboards remain trendy. The palette of tropics, 'indestructible' for several seasons, has become noticeably deeper. Now in trend are atypical colors for African flora — gold, white and pink. We look forward to the exhibition to admire glass chandeliers in various colors and forms. Many Milan stands are decorated entirely in monochrome, and one of the key interior colors is a muted sage or moss green. Is the trend for Turkish paisley patterns returning? The trendy East theme at Milanese salons may well evolve into something similar. Visitors to Salone del Mobile. Milano noticed a trend towards rounded forms, strict geometry and weightless legs. To see more trends, we plan to attend the Moscow exhibition!

SaloneSattelite Moscow: Bright Projects of Winners

Before getting familiar with the projects of young contestants at SaloneSattelite Moscow 2018 (the award ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 12), take a look at the projects of past competition winners. There will be something to compare with the new batch of creativity from future "stars" of product design.

The first prize at SaloneSattelite Moscow 2017 was awarded to Alexandra Fedotova for the Moon collection of bathroom furniture and accessories designed for people of different heights and ages. Second place at last year's competition was taken by Valeria Sergienko and her eco-ware Perception. Typical waste — leather, paper, plastic, polystyrene, glass — is recycled and becomes the material for cups. The 2016 SaloneSattelite Moscow became a launching pad for Tanya Repina and her ElkiIgolki project. The beginning designer presented a table and chair made from an innovative material based on conifer needles and biodegradable polyester. A winner of the Milan competition for young designers was a wooden transforming kitchen by Italian designer Stefano Carta Vasconcellos. The kitchen is easy to assemble and disassemble in a few minutes.
