In today's world, people increasingly want to take a break, rest their souls, and restore their energy. An interior in the rustic style is perfect for these purposes.

Inspiration: Idea for Decoration

For this project, inspiration came from a photo of a stone cottage in Spain that was recently on the verge of collapse. Now, the living room of this house is full of life and comfort — we will try to replicate this interior.

What is the rustic style? Natural materials Wood, stone, forging. Atmosphere of a country house Simple forms, comfort. Warm natural colors Subtlety and low color intensity.

Starting the Work: Creating a Mood Board

In my version, natural tones from white and milk to wood-like hues predominate. These are the colors we will use. To add warmth to the interior, we will incorporate orange, which will appear in decor and fireplace flames.

Moving to Implementation

It is better to buy finishing materials and accessories in one place — it's more cost-effective and you don't need to go anywhere else. So I went to Leroy Merlin, where I found suitable options at affordable prices. What do we need?

For textile decor (curtains, pillows, and cushions), linen, burlap, and other natural fabrics will work. We'll add cozy details such as warm throws and pillows. Rough ceiling beams are needed, which don't require extensive finishing. It's desirable to have a fireplace in the house, even if it's decorative. It reminds of an ancient hearth where people once warmed themselves and cooked food. We'll choose a classic wooden window to balance the rough elements in the design. It can be painted white. A neutral-toned rug will fit well in the space. A basket for firewood can be placed in this area. For the floor, natural wooden planks are chosen. The decor should be diluted with elegant accessories. In rustic style, we often encounter flowers in vases and beautiful tableware that contrast nicely with wooden surfaces.

Design Hacks That Will Make a Rustic-Style Living Room Even Better

As decorative elements, logs, wooden crafts, antique chests, and baskets that blend well with modern interior items can be used. A log-end coffee table will serve as a strong reference to the rustic style. A wooden dining table with a simple form and rough texture can be complemented by elegant chairs. Metal must be included in the form of tableware, forged candleholders, chandeliers, or furniture elements. One of the walls can be accentuated. For example, half-filled with firewood. Or instead of a shelf, use wooden planks in niches.

Arranging Furniture and Decor

• Before placing furniture, it's necessary to determine the center of the room where the home sitting area will be located. The sofa and fireplace will be the main dominant elements of the living room, so we'll place a rug and candle table between them.
  
• Subtle, neutral wall treatment and minimalist furniture forms allow adding wooden beams to the ceiling to the interior.
  
• To balance details, you can add softer decorative elements like an elegant table lamp, mirror, and flowering plants.
• By arranging several pillows and throws, we create a cozy and warm rustic-style living room where you will definitely rest and recover from the hustle of the city.
