Loft Style: What Is It Like? Brutal Finish

Gray concrete, terracotta brick masonry and its imitation, rough textured walls and ceilings without plastering, and natural stone create an atmosphere of a non-residential, industrial space in the interior.

High Ceilings

High ceilings are a must for the loft style. In our reality, three-meter or higher ceilings are more of an exception.

To 'remove' the ceiling, choose white shades of paint — it will visually expand the space, make it spacious and brighten it up. The effect can be enhanced with glossy enamel.

Mixed Lighting and Open Wiring

Spot lighting in different zones of the living room or kitchen-dining area will help set the right accents: combine massive chandeliers, technical spotlights, and bulb lights without shades.

There is no need to hide or mask the electrical wiring — for a loft, hanging and entwined wires are absolutely acceptable.

No Curtains or Drapes

Windows of real lofts are not usually covered with light curtains or heavy drapes — consider metal blinds or Roman shades made of rough fabrics.

Wooden Plank Flooring

If financially possible, prefer natural wood for flooring, especially light-colored.

However, to recreate the loft style, it's acceptable to use laminate, PVC tiles, or ceramic granite that imitates stone and concrete surfaces.

Original Furniture

Furniture should not be uniform or rigid. On the contrary, choose chairs, sofas, and armchairs that contrast with wall and floor colors. Eclectic furniture sets are also acceptable, for example, chairs of different models and textures arranged around a dining table.

For small spaces, choose functional compact furniture that does not clutter the space.
