Interior Design for Teen Girl's Room in Modern Style
For a growing girl, a children's room is no longer suitable. A young lady needs to show her friends her individuality and independence. Her living space should embody femininity and have its own style.
A young lady needs to show her friends her individuality and independence. Her living space should embody awakening femininity, not be a storage for soft fluffy toys. Parents must consider their daughter's opinion and take her preferences seriously. What should be taken into account in the design of a young girl's room?
Nuances of Decoration

The most important point is choosing the main style. Not all girls want to live surrounded by ribbons and plush animals – some prefer romantic decoration, while active ones like modern style. That is, it is necessary to take into account the opinion of the room's inhabitant in choosing colors and decorative elements. The second point is dividing the room into several sectors, among which there should be an area for a workspace, rest and sleep.
Features of Zoning

A room for a growing teenager should perform exactly the same functions as a room designated for an adult person. Therefore, it is desirable to form several sectors with clear boundaries.
- Workspace. It is best to create it by the window. Here, a shelf (which can be used as a boundary of the separated space) or wall-mounted shelves and a computer table are placed. You can also put items for creative activities: an easel or drawing board.
- Relaxation zone. In a small area, it is practical to combine entertainment space and bedroom. This space should provide a place for a small sofa (or a pair of armchairs) and a side table.
- Wardrobe. If the room size allows, this zone can be separated by a mirror wardrobe-wardrobe installed along the entire wall and facing the changing area.
Design

When decorating the space, it is necessary to consider the age of the inhabitant. If the room is intended for a pair of sisters, this will also be reflected in the design.
Design of a Teen Girl's Room

- First of all, you need to determine the stylistic direction and color palette. If preference is given to classical styles, pastel or neutral shades are used. A modern girl's room (high-tech, modern, minimalism) contains saturated contrasting tones with accents on decorative elements. Windows face north? Use more warm colors: coral, white, beige, etc. If the room faces south, green and blue tones would be better.
- Now let's talk about the sleeping area. The design of a room in a small space includes a sofa bed or a two-level structure. In the latter case, the lower part is designed as a guest area (with a sofa and side table), and the upper part is the bed. A sofa bed is also a good option: it has many drawers, and some models can transform into a sofa from which you can create a sleeping place for a friend.
- The interior includes a workspace with a desk. Equip it by the window (it should be on the left if the girl is right-handed). Here, you also need to place a desk lamp, and on the wall, you can hang decorative elements – vases with flowers or paintings. The room in the photo below.
Design of a Room for Girls

If there are two inhabitants in the room, some adjustments will be needed. On a small area, it is better to make the sleeping area two-tiered and located along one of the walls. If the space is spacious enough, an angular two-level sleeping wardrobe can be a suitable option. In this case, under one bed is a sofa, and under the other – wardrobes or chests for clothes. The workspace should best be organized as two separate tables to prevent possible arguments between sisters.
A Room for a 17-Year-Old Female Student

The decoration of the personal space should correspond to the preferences of its inhabitant. If a girl loves rock music, you can place images of her favorite musicians or band on the wall. The most important thing is that these elements are not overly flashy and do not distract from work at the desk. Positive effects are achieved with interiors if there are live flowers (indoor plants) in the room – they inspire girls for creative activities. The color scheme of finishing materials in the room should not be bright and attention-grabbing.
Place the table in front of the window and slightly in the corner (if possible). Then, on the wall, you can place several wall-mounted shelves, which the student can easily reach with her hands to get the required book or document.
Styles for a Teen Girl's Room

The decoration can be any: it is quite acceptable that it does not match the overall apartment interior. What styles do girls prefer today?
- Classicism. Suitable for romantic individuals. Wallpaper or other wall finishing material should be kept in light and soft tones: beige, pale, white, pastel. The textile should match the color tone: curtains, bed linen, pillows.
- High-Tech and Minimalism. These are styles for active girls and imply having only the most necessary furniture and accessories. The color palette should be monochromatic and calm. But at the same time, make an accent on individual objects (a table or cabinet, a blanket), which should be painted in bright shades. High-tech implies the presence of many elements made from metal and glass (interior door or partition, cabinet decoration, etc.).
- Scandinavian Style. Its features are simplicity, an abundance of natural light and air. Pastel tones dominate here, to which bordeaux or blue shades are added as accents. On one of the walls, you can place black-and-white graphics, and warm atmosphere will be provided by plants in pots.
- Shabby-Chic. A modern style aimed at highlighting femininity. Natural materials in light tones are used for finishing. The same color is also used for textiles: peach, blue, pink. Furniture lines, which can have ornate legs, are smooth and rounded. Additional elements decorated with wood carving are welcome.
- French Style (Provence). Suitable for dreamy romantic girls. The decoration is characterized by an abundance of colorful patterns and indoor plants. Furniture and textiles are decorated with lace elements. Other details:
- color: not saturated, with pastel shades – lemon, soft pink, blue;
- ceiling: stretch ceiling, glossy, monochromatic, light (pale sage);
- lighting: without using a chandelier;
- wallpaper and curtains, as well as a carpet should be chosen in one tone.
Furniture Selection

Its color is usually white, as most young ladies prefer the romantic style, which harmonizes well with this color. The most eye-catching object is usually the largest one – the wardrobe. It should have a pair of large compartments, one for clothing and another for storing cosmetics and small items. The table and chair should match the height of the young lady. Also, find a place for a pair of armchairs or a sofa where guests can sit. If the room is small, it is better to buy transformable furniture. Do not forget about the vanity table.
Mirror

A girl's room is not complete without this item. The item should be large, full-size. When choosing the location for a mirror, remember that it is not placed so that it reflects the front door or a sleeping person.
Lighting

Equip the workspace with lamps that emit a spectrum of light close to natural (LEDs with appropriate parameters are best). Considering that teenagers often stay online late into the night, you can hang wall sconces on both sides of the table. They not only provide additional lighting but also add life to the interior design. Ceiling lamps are better installed as spotlights: they distribute light more evenly throughout the room and fit into the design of a modern-style girl's bedroom. Another advantage of spot lighting in combination with a two-level ceiling is creating boundaries between zones.
Decorating a room for a girl will take considerable time. But it's worth it: in the end, you will find a common language with your growing daughter, which is very important at her age.
