Designing a Kitchen Like a President
Designing a Kitchen Like a President
Want to know the secrets of the presidential kitchen? Together with Mr.Doors experts, we followed the work of designers from the TV series "Card House," analyzed the features of kitchen decoration in the Andover house, and selected items that will help create a similar one—almost like the one from which Frank Andover, one of those who rule the world's fate, directly addresses viewers!
Mr.Doors company has been creating custom built-in and cabinet furniture since 1996. Based on the specific features of the space and considering the client's wishes and needs, the company offers unique solutions for any living areas: kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, children's rooms, offices, and hallways.
What is great about the Andover couple's kitchen?
Let's take a closer look at the kitchen where Frank Andover, a very busy man, mostly appears at night, and understand why it is so good.

Let's start with the layout. We have a large, rectangular kitchen in plan with a large window. The work surface extends along the perimeter, and the windowsill is part of it. Two lights above the island create a private atmosphere during secret meetings that happen here.

Frank Andover mostly stands near the island on this kitchen – from there he has a great view of the entire kitchen, doors, and windows – everything under control. In this case, the kitchen island serves not only as a snack bar but also as a podium from which Frank delivers his next speech. All this once again confirms that the island is a convenient feature.

Frank and Claire's kitchen consists of closed cabinets where you can store both food and dishes. The cabinet includes glass display cases. Framed fronts give the kitchen front volume and are painted in a neutral white color. Overall, this is quite an ordinary kitchen in an American home.

Furniture, lighting, and accessories
American kitchens are known for their practicality. If you want to adopt Frank Andover's lifestyle, look for items that will perform their function well: sharp knives made of high-quality steel, white porcelain cups with classic design. Of course, you'll need a champagne bucket to celebrate your next victory.

Material selection
Mr.Doors experts presented a detailed version of Frank and Claire Andover's kitchen. The kitchen cabinet is made from laminated board in the "White Premium" decor. Shaker fronts are made from MDF with a matte white enamel finish. Designers provided for various finishing combinations that allow changing the atmosphere of the kitchen. For example, you can choose different shades of gray for the fronts: "Fog" gives a lighter tone, while "Twilight" provides a deeper one. The countertop is made from artificial stone of the Stone Twelve series, with the "Nuare" decor, but if desired, black can be replaced with light or dark brown.

From the screen to life: Mr. Doors kitchen project
Just like the kitchen from the TV series, it can be divided into several functional zones: food preparation (two stoves, oven), quick meals and intimate conversations (kitchen island), and the utility zone (refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, and cabinets).

As in the series, cabinet fronts are painted white and have paneling. White fronts beautifully contrast with black artificial stone countertops. There is one difference: designers included two rows of shelves to increase storage options.

Over five seasons of the series, many changes occurred in the Andovers' lives, and some things also changed in the kitchen's appearance. For example, handles. Mr.Doors designers took circular, more elegant ones as a model. As for household appliances, an exact copy of Frank and Claire's kitchen implies a double stove, but those who don’t have such ambitious goals as this couple can choose a regular one.

The material was prepared with support from Mr.Doors.
