Owners of this three-bedroom apartment in Gothenburg decided to modernize their home, setting themselves the task of preserving the spirit of the past in the interior design. Let's see how they succeeded.

In a 74-square-meter apartment in a three-story building constructed in the twenties, there is indeed something to preserve. First of all, it's the terracotta walls made from old-textured brick. They were left in one of the bedrooms and the kitchen, subtly used as local panels to avoid overloading the interior.

Secondly, the value lies in a tiled stove – such were commonly used in Swedish homes at the beginning of the last century. It is still capable of heating the living space on cool autumn evenings. Finally, it's antique furniture with a history that time alone can age so skillfully and nobly.

For example, some walls were clad with light paneling, and a white sofa with a pile of cushions appeared in the living room.

The design of interior doors, built-in wardrobes, and mezzanines was echoed in the kitchen cabinetry, harmoniously integrating the modern kitchen into the original look of the apartment.

Some items were purchased to support the retro style, for example, a pair of industrial-style lamps in the bedroom, vintage-style taps for the kitchen and bathroom, or a coffee table resembling a rough freight cart in the living room.

Special attention was paid to items with forged elements: luxurious beds leaning toward the Victorian era, heavy chandeliers styled like candle-shaped bulbs, elegant candelabras. They added solemnity and completion to the interior. The apartment filled with antique items turned out eclectic, airy, and very cozy.
