5 New Solutions for Modern Kitchen Design
Combine the kitchen with the living room, fill it with new household appliances, fry, bake, and cook on steam
The kitchen is perhaps one of the spaces that change before our very eyes. New technologies are to blame for this: manufacturers of household appliances offer fundamentally new solutions each year, which make us rethink our approach to cooking.
1. Kitchen as Part of the Living Space
The kitchen has stopped being a room where you only cook, wash dishes, and perform other household chores. Now it's part of the overall living space, often connected to it through layout and design. Specialists believe that this trend, which became the main one in 2017, is here to stay.

2. New Concept of Built-in Appliances
Developers of built-in appliances are following the lead of kitchen furniture designers: the front surfaces of ovens, microwave ovens, and coffee machines are crafted in a unified minimalist design. In the new series of built-in appliances, flat vertical strips made of stainless steel framing black glass allow one device to be installed above another without intermediate inserts.
Even appliances of different heights, such as 60 and 45 cm, look perfect when placed horizontally or vertically and form a continuous surface. Horizontal placement is an excellent option for spacious kitchens combined with dining rooms, while vertical placement can be ideal for compact and busy spaces.

Designers at NEFF looked for new ideas in the living room: in the new line of ovens, the door, thanks to the patented Slide & Hide® mechanism, sinks into the cabinet when opened. Such solutions are typically used in high-end wardrobes and chests of drawers.

3. Combination of Two or Even Three Functions in One Appliance
The motto of the sixties, 'Live fast, die young,' has firmly gone into the past. Healthy lifestyle, daily fitness, a positive outlook, and proper nutrition are now in vogue. Manufacturers of household appliances are catching trends on the fly: today, an oven can not only roast chicken with a crispy crust but also steam-cook it. Vegetarians can replace meat with vegetables: steaming preserves vitamins, unique properties, and the aromas of fresh produce.

4. 'Smart' Cooktop
NEFF's new generation induction cooktops resemble a DJ console that creates magic in front of your eyes using several vinyl record players and a mixer. It plays music from one, then another 'turntable', changing records in the blink of an eye.

A modern cooktop looks just as magical. Thanks to FlexInduction technology, you can set up three heating zones to cook a lunch of three dishes simultaneously. If needed, a pot can easily be moved from the rapid heating zone to the cooking or warming zone so that the dish doesn't cool down before guests arrive. The TwistPad switch allows you to adjust the heat level with just a single touch of your finger.

5. Open Shelving
Open shelves are convenient! In a small kitchen, they help store everything you need and avoid cluttering the space. In a large one, they mask the door of a storage area. Of course, maintaining them takes quite a bit of time, but modern appliances compensate for the loss: cooking is now much faster.
