Villa M | Pierattelli Architetture | Florence, Italy
Eternal renovator rooted in Tuscan tradition
Located among the hills of Florence, the Villa M is a masterful reinterpretation of Tuscan lifestyle by Pierattelli Architetture. The 1000 square meter house, originally built in the late 1950s, was completely transformed into a harmonious blend of modern minimalism and timeless regional culture.
Under the guidance of Andrea Pierattelli, the renovation emphasizes simplicity and light, balancing strict architectural geometric forms with the warmth and tranquility of natural surroundings. The result is a house that feels both modern and deeply connected to the landscape and cultural memory of Tuscany.
The Concept of 'White Cube': Architecture as Canvas
The main idea behind Villa M is the 'White Cube'—a clean, neutral base designed to highlight the surrounding nature and client's individuality. Pierattelli’s approach focuses on light, proportions, and fluidity, creating spaces that act as a canvas for everyday life and an elegant lifestyle.
Large southern windows, panoramic views, and extended terraces let natural light penetrate deep into the interiors. The house geometry is simple yet refined, creating an atmosphere of calm elegance, where architecture and landscape are in constant dialogue.
Renovated Layout and Spatial Connectivity
The renovation focused on expanding volumes, improving circulation, and enhancing visual and functional connections between interior and exterior spaces.
-
First floor: A spacious open living area flows into a minimalist kitchen defined by marble island and green cabinetry hardware, complemented by a dining area and library.
-
Second floor: Four bedrooms, including two main suites, each opening onto private terraces with jacuzzi and panoramic views of Florence's hills. Colorful furniture and art pieces add life and personality to the serene atmosphere.
-
Basement: A multifunctional retreat including a home office, gym, spa area, cinema room, and practical amenities such as a washing machine and storage—combining luxury with everyday comfort.
Each space is designed to feel open, tactile, and livable, reflecting Pierattelli's belief that modern elegance is based on proportionality, not excess.
Open Lifestyle and Bathroom Transformation
Surrounded by terracotta paths, olive trees, and mediterranean vegetation, the landscape of Villa M serves as a natural extension of its architecture.
The former greenhouse has been transformed into a bathroom, now offering a warm and cozy setting with wooden and resinous walls that enhance the minimalist style of the villa. The 20-meter pool with a wooden finish has become the centerpiece of outdoor design, while shaded relaxation zones and al fresco dining areas create an attractive rhythm between constructed and natural spaces.
A garden with ornamental grasses, aromatic herbs, and local plants reinforce the Tuscan authenticity of the home, celebrating sustainability through design.
Design Details and Refined Materials
Inside Villa M, the study of balance and restraint unfolds. Elite furniture from Baxter, Flexform, Poltrona Frau, B&B Italia and Antonio Lupi enriches the interiors, complemented by custom-designed pieces from the studio.
Natural materials—marble, wood and textured fabrics—contrast with smooth white surfaces, enhancing the tactile history of the home. The result is an elegant interior language that appears crafted yet contemporary, maintaining harmony with the villa's external character and soft Tuscan light.
Celebrating Tradition and Modernity
Villa M embodies the design philosophy of Pierattelli Architetture, combining architectural precision with emotional warmth. Preserving the essence of Tuscan architecture while adding modern sensuality, the project realizes timeless elegance.
Through subtle contrasts, carefully considered details and mastery in proportionality, Villa M demonstrates that true luxury lies in simplicity, authenticity and context. It is a house that belongs both to time and place, standing as an exquisite expression of Italian architectural craftsmanship.
