House Y/A/O | WARchitect | Bangkok, Thailand
Vision Based on Freedom and Individuality
A modern house with a courtyard in Bangkok from WARchitect, known as House Y/A/O, started with a single task from its owners: to create unique housing with complete creative freedom. With a successful fashion business, the owners were ready to build a cozy sanctuary on valuable land they had owned since early in their success.
Their dream was simple yet ambitious — a bright, spacious place with natural lighting and flowing views of greenery and water. A minimalist, modern structure unlike anything else, designed to create a peaceful atmosphere of a luxurious resort. The house was meant to satisfy not only daily needs but also frequent social gatherings and guest visits, requiring clearly defined zones for owners and visitors.
Architecture in Dialogue with Nature
Instead of creating one monolithic block, WARchitect decided to divide the house into three separate volumes — the main living house, guest pavilion and garage, arranged around a central courtyard with a pool. This strategic spatial organization enhances privacy, facilitates natural ventilation and visually connects all parts of the house with a calming presence of water.
Despite its large size, each building remains human-scale, ranging from 120 to 320 sq.m and arranged thoughtfully to preserve open spaces, ensuring easy access and optimal orientation towards the sun. Glass walls facing the courtyard let in light and provide constant visual connection, while carefully placed elements protect the interior from harsh midday sun.

Architectural Language with Depth and Intention
Free from contextual constraints, WARchitect explored an exquisite architectural language. Building on the growing trend of sloped angles where walls and floors intersect — traditionally used only on facades — the firm extended this concept to shape the entire spatial and structural logic of the house.
This architectural approach begins with the floor plan and continues through the structure, walls, floors and roof, creating a harmonious and expressive spatial impression. At the heart of the dwelling, the sky courtyard becomes the house's anchor, welcoming light and rain, allowing waterfalls to flow from a higher roof level down into the lower courtyard.
Courtyard: A Green and Tranquil Core
The courtyard is more than just a design element — it's a sensory experience. With angular roofs directing water flow and internal volumes framing this natural oasis, the house creates an atmosphere of seclusion. The courtyard blurs the boundaries between indoor and outdoor space, fulfilling the client's desire to create a peaceful atmosphere reminiscent of a resort.

Conclusion: Craftsmanship in Spatial Freedom
A modern house with a courtyard in Bangkok from WARchitect is proof that can be achieved when visionaries meet innovative architects. Embracing natural elements, unconventional geometry and user orientation, WARchitect created housing that is both sculptural and functional — a true architectural treasure in the suburbs of Bangkok.
