CHIANG MAI, THAILAND (March 24, 2022) – Meliá Chiang Mai, a 260-room urban hotel located in the heart of northern Thailand's scenic city, will officially open on April 10, 2022. Featuring one of the most stunning city views and Thailand's highest rooftop bar, this luxury property marks the first five-star hotel to open in Chiang Mai since the start of the global pandemic.

Owned by Thailand's leading real estate and lifestyle group, Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC), and operated by Meliá Hotels International, the hotel is part of a strategic brand expansion in key Thai markets. This initiative began with the launch of Meliá Koh Samui, a themed beach resort in January 2020.

PROPERTY

The hotel is situated in a 22-story skyscraper with an adjacent seven-story building. Amenities include two restaurants, two bars, and two lounges, including a business lounge on the 21st floor. Additional facilities include YHI Spa by Meliá with seven treatment rooms, a fully equipped fitness center, swimming pool, banquet hall, four conference rooms, and a kids' club.

CULINARY OFFERINGS

The highlight of the hotel is its 360-degree rooftop bar on the 22nd floor, named Mai The Sky Bar. Comprising two bars connected by a glass bridge, it offers views of the Ping River to the east and the famous Doi Suthep temple on the western mountainside.

Under the guidance of award-winning chef Suksantha Chutintaratip, the hotel celebrates Spanish heritage through its main restaurant, Mai Restaurant and Bar on the 21st floor, and breakfast venue Laan Na Kitchen.

Mai Restaurant and Bar, accommodating 38 guests, specializes in luxurious contemporary Thai cuisine with oceanic influences. Each dish is prepared fresh from an open kitchen by chefs who bring local flavors to every plate. Signature dishes include 'Baked Trout with Nam Prik Oung' and 'Pappardelle with Creamy Chicken Curry'. Laan Na Kitchen offers authentic Mediterranean cuisine, from 'Salmorreho with Crushed Tomato' to 'Seafood Fideuà', served in a vibrant setting. In addition to its 110-seat indoor dining area and an additional 26-seat terrace, Laan Na Kitchen also features four private rooms.

Mai The Sky Bar serves authentic Spanish tapas and pintxos, along with an extensive beverage selection including unique cocktails crafted by skilled bartenders.

The open Tien Pool Bar, located above the lobby on the second floor, reflects the poolside atmosphere and offers guests a variety of delicious bites with Spanish touches such as 'Bocadillo with Thin Cheese' and numerous refreshing drinks.

Adjacent to Laan Na Kitchen on the first floor is Ruen Kaew Lounge, offering healthy small plates under Meliá's 'My Balance' program, along with afternoon tea, coffee and more.

The hotel also provides a 24-hour room service menu with five healthy breakfast options under the 'My Balance by Meliá' program, as well as choices from Spanish, Chinese and local cuisines.

In partnership with 'Ori9in, The Gourmet Farm', Meliá Chiang Mai supports the 'farm-to-table' movement by creating its own sustainable farm in the San Sai area to grow organic fruits, vegetables and herbs for use in its restaurants. Under the '360° Cuisine' program, the hotel collaborates closely with local farmers to promote sustainability, encourage ethical production and support rural communities by ensuring guests know where their food comes from, making the entire community and food system more resilient.

ROOMS AND SUITES

The hotel features nine categories of modern, bright and comfortable guest rooms ranging from 30 to 54 square meters, along with luxury suites that span between 62 and 113 square meters. All guest rooms are equipped with a king-size bed (two separate beds also available) and amenities such as flat-screen TVs with international channels, tea and coffee making facilities, and irons.

The flagship 'Meliá Room' offers city views. Western rooms overlook the sunset over one of Thailand's most famous landmarks, the historic Buddhist temple on Doi Suthep mountain, while eastern rooms offer sunrise views over the Ping River.

'Meliá Corner Room' and 'Meliá Premium Room' are fully soundproofed with a sofa that stretches the entire length of the glass wall. The 54 sqm 'Premium Corner Room' includes a sofa, table and chairs, along with modern amenities including a minibar and alarm clock. The family room is also 54 sqm, providing enough space for additional beds with the option to connect adjacent rooms upon request.

Located on higher floors, the 62 sqm 'Level Suite' features a circular bathtub and spectacular views of Chiang Mai. The 113 sqm 'The Level Presidential Suite' on the 20th floor embodies elegance and sophistication. The Level Lounge is available to guests staying in 'The Level Room', 'The Level Premium Room', 'The Level Suite' and 'The Level Presidential Suite'.

SPA AND WELLNESS

The YHI Spa at Meliá Chiang Mai will include seven private treatment rooms themed around the underwater world, and a traditional Thai herbal sauna for cleansing, detoxification and muscle relaxation.

The spa features four single treatment rooms, two double (or couple) rooms, one double Thai massage room, and a separate pedicure room with two stations.

Professional spa therapists utilize ancient Asian healing methods combined with modern wellness techniques, offering a full range of body treatments from massage and scrubs to wraps and facials that leave guests revitalized and refreshed. Treatments are based on organic products from the HARNN brand, made from natural ingredients using traditional Thai master techniques passed down through generations.

With an open pool on the second floor, the fitness center includes premium Matrix line equipment from Johnson, including treadmills, elliptical trainers and stationary bikes, plus a dumbbell station and weight training set.

EVENTS AND CONFERENCE FACILITIES

An ideal venue for events and weddings, the hotel offers expanded conference services including a 358 sqm banquet hall named Yi Peng Grand Ballroom, two functional rooms on the second floor above the lobby, and an 185 sqm multi-purpose room on the top floor of the building's seventh story.

The 173 sqm pre-banquet space connects to the open pool and Tien Pool Bar. As part of the 'Power Meetings by Meliá' program, Power Lounge includes a billiards table, drinks area and stylish relaxation spaces perfect for breaks between meetings.

The Khom Multi-Function Room on the seventh floor opens onto a 222 sqm open terrace suitable for events with views of Chiang Mai, the river and mountains. Khom Multi-Function Room adjoins a secret garden that creates pleasant surprises during coffee breaks.
