House on a Mountain Slope in Norway

Architecture firm Filter Arkitekter presented a project of a house located near one of the slopes of the alpine center Ålsheia in Norway. Considering the location of the plot, the construction was designed to blend into the landscape so it becomes part of nature both in winter and summer. Concrete was used as the main material, which will gradually acquire color and grow moss over time, similar to surrounding rocks. The interior space of the 165 square meter house has two floors. On the lower level are a garage, storage space, technical room, sauna, and a living room with a fireplace. On the second floor are a large common area and four bedrooms. The panoramic view from the main living room overlooks the surrounding landscape. The height difference of the floor separates the kitchen and dining area from the rest of the space. The surrounding landscape gives the house a sense of coldness, which is softened by incorporating wooden elements into the harsh interior palette with concrete finishes.
