Architectural studio Case Ornsby Design presented a house project in New Zealand, in the city of Christchurch. Historically, the specificity of this region is closely linked to agriculture, which inspired the architectural design of the building. The 281 square meter house consists of four connected structures with adjacent courtyard spaces between each dwelling. Each pavilion features a glass gallery with a flat roof that lets in plenty of light and provides a good view of the internal courtyard. The city has experienced earthquakes, so the materials chosen for construction must be lightweight and safe. Cedar was used for cladding and left in its natural state. The interior was filled with elements made from natural cedar and oak wood, combined with white gabled ceilings and concrete floors.
