Further Lane Pool House by Robert Young Architects

Robert Young Architects is a studio that has frequently appeared on our site with modern residential home projects such as the Mitchell Lane House in Bridgehampton, the Kettle Hole House in Westhampton, and the Bluff House in Montauk. This time we present their work on a pool house named Further Lane in East Hampton, New York, measuring 250 square feet.

The goal for this pool house in the Hamptons was to create maximum variety of opportunities within a relatively small number of interior and exterior spaces that are in view and audible to one another. As you move through the space, you discover a series of specialized zones: a fireplace living area, arched openings that frame the sky, enclosed storage and food prep areas, as well as a shower and bathroom. Natural elements are present throughout — from cedar louvers to blue stone floors and a natural galvanized roof that will develop a patina over time. A multitude of trees and vegetation around the building create a sense of seclusion, making it impossible to distinguish where architecture ends and landscape begins. A handcrafted brick chimney from Petersen Brickworks in Denmark rises above all, strengthening the spatial composition and creating a gathering place.
