Celadon green is a light green, fluctuating between green-blue and aquatic green, always soft and subtle. Generally, the term "celadon" can be applied to any light, porous, almost pastel shade. The origin of the word celadon traces back to the history of Honoré d'Urfé.

In 1610, he described in his pastoral novel "L’Astree" a shepherd character named Celadon who proudly wore multiple pale green ribbons on his costume. A reference is also made to the Chinese porcelain of Luncjien.

Very popular in France, clay dishes receive this famous green shade thanks to the addition of iron oxide into the glaze. Today, celadon green is once again very fashionable. This natural color perfectly fits into modern decorative aesthetics due to its neutrality and calming effect.

WHICH COLORS TO COMBINE WITH CELADON GREEN?

There are many combinations possible with celadon green, the key is always to highlight it without drowning it out. Neutral colors such as white or beige will be perfect for creating a calm and refined atmosphere.

Closely related to aquatic mint, the naturalness of celadon green easily finds its place among decorations where emphasis is placed on wood. Light wood for a very bright room, in contrast to dark wood with controlled contrast.
