But let's start with surface-level ambiance. The upcoming year of the Blue Wooden Horse suggests that for the celebration, you should choose colors from a blue, navy, or green-gold palette. Curtains or drapes can be adorned with raindrops, small bows (even handmade from satin ribbons) or jingling bells (how could a horse be without bells?). The perimeter of the room can be decorated with LED string lights, which will serve as the main source of light during the celebration. However, if the room is small, you might just limit yourself to a New Year’s tree. Speaking of the tree – ornaments in the above-mentioned colors, wooden toys, artificial snow – all this will make your New Year’s tree (even if it's not real) feel cozy and homey. Decorate the room with live fir branches and mandarins, place a little cinnamon or cloves under the tree – this truly New Year scent will create festive mood with a hint of magic anticipation.

Alternatively, the scent can also be handled by a regular aromalamp, into which you can pour either a specific oil or a blend.

Next, arrange candles in the room. The safest type of candles are those called 'candle holders' – they won't leak and won’t cause a fire. Still, it's strictly necessary to place them out of reach of flammable materials. Place a couple of candles on a small festive table, which creates an intimate atmosphere. For the table, it's better to choose candles decorated with New Year’s ornaments or decorate them yourself – wrap them with ribbons, lace, or glitter. After eating or during breaks, you may want to watch classic New Year’s movies or just lie down side by side – don’t forget to prepare a warm and cozy throw. A throw, by the way, is also an important element of romantic atmosphere. Its presence gives a feeling of warmth and seclusion.
